Lou Lu
American Staffordshire Terrier (?)
5 – 7 years old
female (spayed)
75 pounds
Meet Lou Lu! This silly gal is looking for a great foster or forever home. She is incredibly friendly, bouncy, and smart. She’s equally happy bouncing after a rope as she is flopping down and taking a nap in the sun.
Lou Lu came from an uncertain situation, though it seems she was around abuse in some form. She is sensitive to loud sounds and some motions above her head. She is quick to respond to disciplinary cues, and usually only needs reminders. Lou Lu is loving and bonds quickly to her people, so long as they offer boundaries with their love for her.
Lou Lu and her foster brother, a Chihuahua-Terrier mix (weighing 16 pounds), have become friends playing, eating, and sleeping together. They share their favorite high-value treats (bones and antlers), ropes, and balls without incident. They also play chase respectfully, with or without a rope being tossed in the air by Lou Lu herself!
Lou Lu is crate trained (“Go to your bed.”) and is continuing to work on various other commands, though knows “sit” and “up” (to get in the car) well. She is learning to walk with a gentle leader very well and doesn’t need much correction on walks now! We’re thrilled to see her progress and know that she will continue to learn and grow with the right family.
We think she’d be the happiest with a neutered male companion who allows her to set the rules. We’re not sure how she’d do as the only dog in the house — she for sure likes company from humans and dogs alike! Her new home shouldn’t mind some snoring now and again, though not usually through the night!
Please email adopt@rocketdogrescue.org to meet her!
