Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreMumm is a sweet Border Collie/Cattledog mix about two to three years old. She got dealt a lousy hand in her early life. She lived on a ranch with a zillion dogs and just one human. He was a bit of a recluse so there were no visitors. She is a classic example of why socializing is so important. Because she never experienced new people, they scare her. Once she finds out that you mean her no harm, she LOVES ear scritches and petting.
*Mumm’s New Year’s Resolution is to lose some weight. Maybe you share that same goal or you can help a sweet smiling girl down the path she wants to run. I met Mumm a few months ago. She came from a place of some neglect more than any abuse. Recently separated from her litter. Seemingly never walked on leash, she would drop to her stomach every two steps. Unfamiliar with everything, she is still hesitant but is becoming a different being. So much potential. She is sweet, loves to nudge her head on my lap, lick my face and hands. Excited to go on walks, curious now about the world around her and willing to meet new people. I have her in a house with other dogs and haven’t given her the attention she deserves, so that has led to her over-eating. With a docile, shy facade, there is so much waiting to burst out.
I have seen her jump up and bark with excitement just knowing she was going on a walk or getting a snack. She gets along with the other dogs. Is house broken but has problems with nervous peeing. She taught herself to go out in my backyard when I get out the leash, so that when I put it on her, if she pees, she is outside. It is nervous reflex, and fixable. Many times recently I have put the leash on her without that submissive reaction. What she is now is only a start, she is all potential. Give yourself a sweet trusting friend for the New year, and Mumm another chance. Please email adopt@rocketdogrescue.org to meet her!
