EWvery once in a while, we encounter a dog that is SO special, it defies all reason! That is how we feel about WINKY! This little fellow is about 11 lbs and 8 yrs old.
This is what Winky’s foster mom has to say about him:
When Winky was first pulled from a shelter,I had some notion that he was a special needs dog; with one eye recently removed and being a senior, I thought of him as being a “pity” case. Whoa!!! Stop! Guess again!!Like all small breed dogs, the senior years don’t start until long after the graying has begun. Winky is healthy and fit enough to actually be a good jogging partner for someone for years to come. He is great on a leash.
Although nothing is known of his preshelter history, it seems that Winky has had at least one really loving owner during his lifetime and maybe somewhere along the line,a not so nice one.He is shy at first meeting and politely waits for an invite. But, after just a few moments, he’s all “tail wags” and jumping onto laps. He seems to like children, but, because of his small size,a household with very small children would not be recommended. Untested with cats. Good w small dogs, playful. When walked near really big dogs,he ignored them. No aggression shown, but no attempt to greet either. (could it be that his eye injury had been caused by a dog attacking him?)
winky is not much of a barker, but is loyal and like to follow you around. He likes to “help” fold laundry and loves going places in truck (calls Shotgun every time!). No doubt about it, Winky is a treasure. Whoever adopts him will be blessed with a beautiful really unique super smart little love. Not wanting to play favorites, but I gotta admit, he’s one of my favorite foster kids ever.
If you are interested in adopting Winky, please submit an adoption application (found on website www.rocketdogrescue.org) and a volunteer will set up a meeting.
