duke

Duke is one handsome teddybear. This beautiful
fellow
was short on time when Rocket Dog Rescue swept in
and
saved him at the 11th hour. He sure knows he has
been
rescued! He seems intent on making up for all the
time he lost out on human affection! Duke loves to
snuggle and the happier he gets, the faster his tail
goes. He is estimated to be about 2 years old and
fully grown at around 75 pounds. It is a very
compact
75 pounds though as he is physically smaller than
our
Golden Retriever female who weighs the same as him.
He
has a short coat and appears to be a German Shepherd
Mix. His coloring is very beautiful - brown, gold
and
cream - and the mask on his face is as regal as his
name!
Duke will need a secure yard with a high fence, as
he
can easily jump 5 feet from a standing position. He
is house-broken and rides well in the car. He would
do well as an only dog or with another dog.
However,
he appears to be a dominant male, so will probably
do
best with another female dog. He certainly has
charmed our female after just one week together! In
general though, he’s does well with other dogs. He
walks well on a leash. He has learned to sit, but
will need continued obedience training to make him
the
best canine citizen he can be.
Duke is looking for a home that will love and
appreciate him - and he will repay it tenfold! Duke
does not fully appreciate his own size and might
easily knock over small children, so he should not
go
to a home with toddlers. He is an intelligent,
wonderful dog that will be a great addition to your
home!
He has been neutered, has a microchip, tested negative for heartworm and is currently getting K9 for tick and flea prevention and Heartguard heartworm prevention. If you would like to meet Duke, please email vrcarradero@yahoo.com
