Hippo is a beautiful male American Pit Bull Terrier, possibly mixed with some Shar Pei. He is about 9 months old, neutered, and house broken.  He is a perfect example of a squishy love bug pittie. He thrives mostly on love and attention, but also loves lots of play time, if you have another dog in the house.   He is very comfortable playing and napping indoors, and is learning more about the outside world.  He walks well on leash, and loves his morning walks in the Golden Gate Park, though can get distracted easily by dogs and people of course!  He has learned some basic commands like Sit and Leave It, and is not possessive about food or treats—he will sit calmly during meal times and wait patiently until he's told it's ok to dig in.  Sometimes he gets too excited around certain dogs, but can be corrected quickly. We've experienced many successful doggie greetings with him.

He is energetic and playful, and loves rubs and hugs.  He makes adorable snorting sounds when he's happy and snores at night sometimes! He likes to chew on a pig ears or other chewable dog-treats, but not the coffee table legs. What a good boy! Because he is young and still learning his manners, he would be best in a home with children over 10 and cats are just too interesting, so a cat-free home is best.   He is now crate trained, in the space of only 2 days; and he sleeps in his crate all night.
