Meet Max! He’s a 4 year old Plott hound mix. Max is a great family dog. He has been wonderful with our daughter since the day we brought her home. He welcomed her with kisses from head to toe and took her in as one of his brood. He seemed to have more purpose on our walks since she came along. He keeps her in his line of sight at all times now that she is a toddler. When she disappears for a moment, he bays to alert all.

He is of coarse thrilled to be out on a trail. He loves Fort Funston (on a weekday when horses are less likely to show up) where he can meander along the trails and run carefree by the water. Max has impressive stamina and can run for a couple of hours with little to no rest in between. But he doesn’t require intense activity, just thoroughly enjoys it. Max is just as content to lie around the house when we’re home, going from outdoors to indoors at his leisure. He doesn’t follow us around, he’s just glad to know we are all together. He often can be seen chewing on his favorite toy (a penguin with no more stuffing that has survived many “unfortunate” washings) while lying on his dog bed, happy as a billy goat that the family is together.

He walks well on leash after the initial one-minute thrill subsides of getting out. The exception being when he sees a cat (and sometimes a raccoon), he will bay and lunge in the direction of his would be prey. As previously mentioned, Max has a serious aversion to horses. I have no idea why, but if he is off leash, he will not relent at a horse’s feet; it is incredibly difficult to get him away from the horse and into safety (which is why we only bring him to Fort Funston on a week day). He gets along well with most other dogs, non-neutered males sometimes being the exception.

He knows basic commands: stay, leave it, sit, down, and come when he is in the mood or a particularly good treat is involved. Sometimes he can crawl on the ground toward a treat and speak on command.

Max is not a drooling hound unless he sees something he really wants to eat (like cheese); generally speaking he has a dry mouth.

Max is a trumpet. He bays/ howls in two volumes at the arrival of guests: loud and extra loud. Even when people come who Max knows well, he still announces their presence with volume. Six days a week, the mailman’s presence continues to be a challenge. Max charges for the window each time. We try to anticipate the mailman’s arrival and sit with Max, reminding him to leave it… at a minimum with our coaxing he will cry, trying earnestly to get his bay out. Also, if he hears unfamiliar noise in a neighbor’s back yard, he will charge the fence to deliver his bay. Until we command with great force, leave it! As loud as his bay can be, his mouth is very gentle. He will take a treat from our hands more delicately than our toddler.

Many times he has helped us feel secure at night. His acute sense of smell knows when anyone is walking down the street seemingly before they turn the corner. His incessant, unrelenting interest and bays at our bedroom window prompted us to call the police one night, who discovered once they arrived on scene that he was baying at a family of raccoons who had made their home in our tree. They reminded us to always look up and down when searching our property. We have no need for an alarm system, as Max is the best alarm system out there! Max is an amazing dog, and hes looking for his new home!

Tumbler

Meet Tumbler! He’s a BEAUTIFUL 10 month old Doberman (possibly a purebred) pup who was saved from the Martinez animal shelter! He weighs 75lbs, and is a bundle of love! Max is an energetic, loving and loyal boy. He needs an active home, and enjoys going on runs with his foster family. He’s very smart and highly trainable, and has learned sit, come, down and stay. He will need a home that continue to work with him on his impulse control, as he’s still an adolescent pup!

Tumbler is being fostered with two children, a cat and another dog and does well with everyone! He is crate trained, and housebroken! He loves playing with the other dogs at Crissy Fields Park. All around he’s a goofy, happy and great puppy who is going to make someone very happy! If you love Dobie’s – you’ll love Tumbler!

We would like a home that has breed experience or experience with larger breed dogs!

Bubba

Meet Bubba! He is a beautiful 2-3 year old Gotti Bloodline BULLY (he is not a pitbull terrier). This breed is bred specifically for there excellent temperament, and there stunning looks.

Well, Bubba’s story isn’t exactly an easy one. This poor boy was found roaming the east bay city streets emaciated and with an eye infection. Some amazing folks took him in, and helped gained him to health. He has put on weight and was treated by a vet. Posters were put up, reports with the local shelter, but no one came forth. We are all in shock that no one was looking for this amazing, loyal and loving boy.

About Bubba: He’s a gentle, loving soul. He is so true and devoted to his people. He does not being left alone the entire day, as he’d rather be with you! He is currently fostered with a cat who he does fine with (but they are not left unattended together.) He is so smart as well. He had a medium energy level. A few good walks, and he’s happy. He’s much rather be curled up on the couch with you. He is fine with all people handling him, including complete strangers. He just loves everyone. Bubba was tested around dogs his size, and did well with them. He seems overly interested with smaller dogs, so we would not recommend him to a home with small animals. Ideally, he’d love to be the king of his home. We are not sure how he would do living with another dog, but we are open to a meet and greet with a potential adopter and another dog.

BUBBA is neutered! He is also microchipped, and up to date on all of his shots. There will be a rehoming fee, and a home visit to ensure Bubba gets only the best home. We would like to find him a home with someone who has experience with strong breed dogs.

Mo & Sweets

“Mo” and “Sweets were found on the streets of East Oakland a month apart just a couple of blocks from each other. They’ve bonded and it’d be great if they went to the same home, but not a must.

Mo is a 7 year old gentleman with a very young spirit and a big personality. He’s neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Mo actually came with the microchip and after some research, I found out that his past owner was arrested for burglary in 2010…maybe that’s why they never returned my calls. Mo is an active dog and would love a family to keep him entertained and as well as another little buddy to tussle and play with. He gets along well with small dogs and big dogs excite him. He’s too interested in cats so he’d probably be best in a home without them. We are working on leash manners and basic commands. He’s used to the gentle leader and we have started doing clicker training.

Mo loves his people, enjoys play time with his doggy companion and has a few endearing quirks. He loves to burrow into a blanket or sheet when he sleeps and he sings along with certain squeaky toys.
“Sweets” was found a month ago on the streets of East Oakland. She’s about a year old with a mellow old soul. She’s spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She loves to play but more than that, she loves to cuddle with her people. She’s the quintissential lap dog…she loves being held and sitting in your lap. She really is a sweet dog. She’s not too interested in cats or other prey, she’s really just focused on her people. She’s already crate trained, very trainable and we’ve started with clicker training. She’s not gotten the hang of housebreaking yet but is paper trained. Sweets will probably do well in any kind of home, though given her age, continued socialization and training would be great for her.

Memo

Meet Memo! He’s a beautiful 3 year old Brindle American Pitbull Terrier with stunning brindle markings.. Sweet Memo was rescued from the SF city shelter when he was just a few months old. He was adopted out, and lived with people who loved and cared about him very much. Sadly, due to things beyond there control, they could no longer keep him, so he is now back here with us!

Memo is an amazing dog, who is so devoted and loving with his people, and everyone he meets. He has been through doggie “bootcamp” where he learned sit, stay, come, leave it, down, and heal. He does well with a firm leader who makes sure he follows all commands, and he will listen very well. He’s an energetic boy, and loves nothing more than a good run, or a game of fetch. He loves going on long hikes too. Memo is fostered with other dogs, whom he gets along with fine. He does have a “rough” play style so his play is always monitored. Memo is crate trained, and house trained and rarely barks. He does fine being left alone. He does enjoy sleeping in the bed, and loves to snuggle.

Memo is one very loyal dog, and would love a home where he could get lots of love, attention and exercise from his people. He will be an obedient, loving and gentle boy. He needs a home who has large dog breed experience or experience with pitbulls. He would benefit from continued training to continue what he’s learned. Memo has been neutered, has his shots, and is chipped.

Coltrane

Meet Coltrane! He is a lovely wee 11 week old pit mix pup who to be near you. This cutie also enjoys his toys and will likely be an active adult dog. His mom and dad are both amazing dogs with great temperaments, and he’s such an easy going calm pup! Coltrane would do fine in a home with kids 10+ . Coltrane’s adopter should take him to reward based classes. He is a loving little guy and wants nothing more than to be with his people! We think he will be around 50lbs when full grown. He’s been neutered, has all shots and is chipped.

Monsieur Marco is a very sophisicated bon vivant under his hard-luck hairdo. This 2 yr old Bearded collie (maybe Tibetan terrier?) mix came to us after he was unceremoniously dumped in a Central Valley shelter….not quite the lifestyle he was hoping for. Fortunately, Rocket Dog rescue stepped in to help this 33 lb boy realize his future…. Are you going to be a part of that?

Rocket Dog rescued Sandra and Drake from a shelter when their time was up. They are purebred Lhasa’s. We think they are about 3 years old. They are such a sweet couple and came from the same home so they are very bonded. We would like to find a home where these two can stay together. They are very playful and sweet. Sandra loves to gives kisses and cuddle with you and rake loves squeeky stuffed animals. if you give him a toy he will carry it around and play with it until he falls asleep with it in his mouth..hehe. They are both housebroken, do well with other dogs, and have amazing personality’s. We love these two and know you will too.

Meet Moose! He’s a SUPER DUPER cute 3 month old pittie/boxer/shepherd mix puppy. Well, that’s our best guess! He’s a playful, loving and goofy boy. He has lots of energy and wants to play play play! He is not mouthy like most pups, and would much rather give you kisses, and jump into your lap. He thinks he’s a lap dog and always wants to be close. Moose would benefit from training classes so he could learn more commands, and to help socialize him. We think he would do well in the home with another dog who could help teach him the ropes.

He has been neutered, utd on shots, and microchipped.

Crystal came to Rocket Dog rescue from a high-kill Central Valley shelter….she was brought in as a “stray”….how could anyone not look for this young 12 lb terrier-chihuahua mix? We think she is about 5 mos old, so she still has a bit of growing to do. Crystal is a beauty…she has a luxurious thick black coat and long feathered ears. She likes to be held, but is always up for play-time!

This brave 3 mo old lab mix pup was brought into the shelter after he was found hiking along a highway in the Central Valley …Norman currently weighs about 17 lbs, loves to play (he IS three mos old!) and would benefit from puppy obedience classes and all-around socialization….he loves people and other dogs, we are not yet sure about cats! He’s all around a great pup and will be an amazing family dog!

Mr. Gray

Meet Mr. Gray! He is a handsome Purebred Silky Terrier, about 2 years of age. He is a cool, calm boy inside the house that is more independent when he first meets you, but warms up after a few days. He knows sit, loves to play with a ball and chew on a bone… and he is potty trained! He will whimper or scratch on the door to let you know he needs to go out He does not like to be crated or be alone, and he’ll need patience and training about being in a car (he whimpers and wants to be with you). His foster mom doesn’t crate him at night as he loves to curl up at the end of your bed, and occasionally sneak up and lay on your tummy He is not crated during the day while foster mommy is gone, and is left in the room with his foster brother. He does great with some dogs, but not with some males. His foster mom believes he’s not fond of dominant males as he does wonderful with his submissive foster brother pomeranian and his dominant sister Yorkie. He’s calm indoors but gathers a lot of energy when he sees his leash being pulled out! He loves to go on walks and would be a great jogging or hiking buddy. As a male he does mark a lot while on his walks outside, but is not a problem marker indoors. All in all he is a great guy that would love to call a place of his own!

Poor little Dinah…this little 7 lb bundle of joy was turned into the shelter as a stray, but no one came to claim her. We don’t know about her past, but she is not looking back…she is now seeking a new home where she can grow into the best dog ever! We think Dinah is a doxie mix, about 2 mos old, and will be a small dog (kless than 15 lbs) when full grown. She is quiet and playful and friendly. She loves to cuddle and is eager to please…she would probably do quite well in obedience training classes!

Crogan just arrived to Rocket Dog Rescue from a high-kill Central Valley shelter and he was hot and tired from the long car ride! He was found as a stray- Crogan is approximately 4 yrs old, (we think) a schnoodle mix (schnauzer-poodle), about 23 lbs. He is gray and brown and aspires to higher education….he was found wandering near a school! Very calm and sweet….seems to like other dogs and LOVES people…not sure about cats yet!

Tahoe is a wonderful, calm, 6-7 yr old gentleman…..he seems to be a mix of golden retreiver and lab…he has a little gray around the muzzle but still wants to accompany his people on hikes and walks on the beach. He was brought in as a stray to the shelter and no one claimed him after several weeks…..poor guy….

Tahoe weighs about 65 lbs…like most of us, he could stand to lose a few pounds…but he wants to do it without a crazy diet plan…a sensible diet and moderate exercise is what he would enjoy!

Bert & Ernie

Bert and Ernie are two very cute and friendly dogs who are looking for a loving home. They were abandoned by their owner and have been looking for a new place to call home. They are best of buds who share a special bond and they need to find a special home that will take them together. Bert is a 12 year old dachshund smoothie who continues to defy his age. He loves to be pet, sniff around the yard, and lay underneath a blanket on the couch or in a lap. He does take a daily pill to help with minor back pain, but you’d never know by watching him run around! Ernie is a 6 year old dachshund/terrier mix who wants nothing but love and attention whenever he can get it. Like Bert, he also likes to be pet and enjoys sitting on a lap, but really enjoys playing with his best bud Bert! Both are housebroken and crate trained and are perfectly fine entertaining themselves during the day, either outside or in a play area. They hardly ever bark (except to be pet!) and they are extremely friendly with people and most smaller dogs. Their ideal home would be one that could give them the love, attention, and patience that they deserve.

Meet Jolene! She’s a beautiful 2 year old female Redbone Coonhound! This lovely girl is just a joy to have around. She is house and crate trained and responds well to commands. She is super sweet and loves to be around people. She is good around kids and both large and small dogs, and is all around ms perfect. You won’t find a more loving and loyal hound that this girl!

Kokomo Joe is one good looking sweet-boy treeing walker hound. This nice guy is friendly with all people and other dogs, crate trained, well behaved. He is about 1 year old, a nice well mannered dog that is sweet as pie, on the shy side, really. He could benefit from some basic leash training. Cally is a sweet 4 year old male australian shepherd who’s coming to us from the Sacramento animal shelter. He’s a beautiful boy, and was sadly found roaming the streets and brought in as a stray. He’s very affectionate with people and a shelter staff favorite. He is very easy to walk, and will stay right by your side. He truly loves his people. Cally should go to an adult home, and someone who will give him a good amount of exercise.

Tallulah

Meet Talulah! This beautiful 60lb bundle of love came to Rocket Dog Rescue just 2 days ago, and is looking for a forever home! We think she is around 1-2 years old. She just loves everyone, and loves to give kisses! She was very sweet with kids she met, and other dogs.

We were contacted by some good samaritans who told us that this pretty lady was abandoned in the yard of an empty house in West Oakland, without any food, water or shelter. She sat alone day after day, and it was looking like there was no options. She was skinny, infested with fleas, had an eye infection and un-spayed. The amazing neighbors in the area started feeding her and trying to find a safe place for this little lady.

Although, we were full beyond belief and had no foster home open- we knew we could not let this poor little soul waste away, knowing any day may be her last once acc was called. She hadn’t a fair chance at life, and it shouldn’t end there. The amazing folks who were watching little Talulah drove her down to Rocket Dog, and that’s all it took to get this precious little lady on the road to recovery and in for bright future!

This little lady is at the vets now and she is getting spayed, and cleaned up. She is ready to go into a foster or forever home! She is truly one of a kind! You won’t find anyone quite as special as Ms Tallulah!

Joey

Meet Joey! He is a cute 3 year old terrier mix boy who weighs 25lbs. He’s a tall, and lengthy boy so he could very well have some whippet or something in there. Joey was found tied to a fence in a local park in Sacramento, and was then picked up by animal control. This poor boy may have had a rough past, but we will make sure he has a bright future.

Joey is a sweet, quiet, gentle soul. He is submissive and sweet & will lay on his back and wag his little tail when you pet him. He also gives gentle loving kisses. This wonderful little guy needs someone to help build up his confidence and show him the world is not a mean place. He dosen’t have a mean bone in his body. He just needs a loving, and kind home…

Meet Cache! She’s a sweet 1 year old spaniel mix girl. She’s a darling girl and loves everyone .. She has lots of playful energy and she LOVES to play. If you are just sitting down watching television, then she relaxes and loves to sit and cuddle with you. She almost never barks. She loves other dogs and children, and is so friendly.

She loves being in the same room as the person that is home, and spending time with her people. She is housebroken and does well in the home. Cahce is a wonderful little dog!

Gilbert

Gilbert is a lovely 12 lb, one year old terrier mix who originally came to us from a rural shelter….He is up to date on his vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. He was adopted but his new owner changed jobs and now has to travel most of the time. She is reluctantly asking us to find a new home for GIlbert becasue she feels ”he deserves to have so much more”.

This is what she says about him:

He is a love bug, and will cuddle up every chance he gets. He loves playing his version of fetch with his toy porcupine, which means he runs to get it and then runs past you with it! He enjoys being outside, but doesn’t like meeting other dogs on the street. He prefers an off leash setting with other dogs, and will be protective of his person while walking. Some of his favorite things are his toy porcupine, chicken for a treat, snuggling on the couch, and playing with his friend Abu, a Havanese. He likes people too, and is friendly to everyone, as long as he doesn’t feel like they are harmful. He has been known to bark at dark figures at night.

Gilbert would love a home with someone who can give him just as much love as he gives. We don’t know how he would do well with cats.

Milo

“Milo” is a young dog.. one and a half year old border collie mix…He was adopted out last year, but sadly his people dont have enough time for Milo anymore. The shelter he came from was brimming with dogs and he is extremely lucky to have made the cut and made it here, much more than 90 percent are euthanized due to lack of space, and his number was up the next day when Rocket Dog saw him on the rescue list. Milo is an active, loyal and loving boy. he is housebroken, and does well with kids and everyone he meets.

He’s a lovable, likeable family dog, and has been getting along very well in my home with my 2 other dogs. He’s highly trainable, very smart, and eager to please. He has the bearing and smarts of a border collie; but resembles a miniature great dane if there ever was such a thing. He’s an energetic boy (as collie’s are) so would do best in an active home! He’s lanky but agile, becoming more confident by the day as his star rises.

Spanky, Darla & Buckwheat are adorable funny plott hound pups, about 7 months old- and 45 pounds or so .. they love EVERYone and have great dog social skills.. These youngsters are total hounds- loosy-goosy hilarious personalities – but sweet as pie through and through.

They are fixed, vaccinated, dewormed & flea treated. They are also crate trained, housebroken and ready & willing to learn all other basic training stuff.. Come and meet a hound dog !! Meet Melton! He is an adorably CUTE puppy that is available for adoption! He is a big puppy for his age, he is 8 weeks. He looks kind of like a beautiful chihuahua but we believe he is a basenji mix that will be about 30 pounds when he gets older… although that is purely an estimate! He’s got a cute underbite (purely lip, not teeth) and he is very playful but also has his mellow times. Rocket Dog Rescue rescued him from a shelter just a few days ago and this is my first day fostering him but so far he’s great! He does well with other dogs (I have 2 in addition to him) and I’m not sure how he’d do with cats but that can be assessed. I would suggest he not go into a family with toddlers just because he can be a very playful puppy and likes to nip with your ears or hands, and those baby teeth are kinda sharp if you’d like to adopt him please e-mail me! The adoption process is as follows: you fill out an adoption application and e-mail it to me. I then review them and possibly may do a home check. I do honor applications in the order that I get them! The adoption donation is $240 which covers the neutering, microchip, and vaccinations. Smokey

Meet the wiggliest puppy at the park! His name is Smokey and he is a 6 month old fawn blue nose pit bull mix who weighs about 30lbs. He came from the San Francisco Animal Care & Control where he came in so emaciated he could not walk for the first week. It was one of the worst cases of starvation the shelter had seen. He then put on some weight, and he looks amazing now! This boy will never be starved again, and enjoys his yummy meals.

He loves his people so much and follows them everywhere. He just wants to be near you at all times! He loves to meet new people as well as dogs. He is a favorite at the dog park because he’s got the wiggliest butt and so many kisses to share! Drexyl loves to play with other dogs but he is pretty much a couch potato when he is at home. He is very obedient and in just a week has already learn “sit”, “down”, “stay” and “come”..we are working on “shake” now. He is pretty much completely potty trained so really he is very smart. He is very eager to please and is so gentle. If you are looking for a breed ambassador than look no further than Smokey.

Meet Sawyer! He’s a beautiful 6 year old blue tick hound who came to us from the Martinez Animal Shelter. He’s a loving, loyal and amazing dog. He is so devoted to his people, and is great with other dogs. He is housebroken and does well in the home.

Sadly, Sawyer was surrendered by his people who have had him since there 3 year old child was born. Sawyer would do well in a home with kids 12+ as the 3 year old was not very nice to Sawyer and would ride on his back, and pull on his ears. The shelter staff were quite shocked when they head what the parents allowed the children to do to Sawyer.

We don’t understand how anyone could give this boy up. In the short time he’s been with RD, he has won the hearts of many- and has quite the fan club. This sweet boy has his bags packed and is ready for his forever home! Experience with hound dogs is a plus!

Meet the wonderful Van the man! He’s a beautiful around 2 year old male cattle dog that was saved from the Chowchilla animal shelter on his last hour, and boy is he happy to be alive! Van is being fostered with other dogs, all of whom he is polite with. We think he may have been a ranch dog and probably neglected by his people as he can be shy and takes time to warm up .. He does fine in the house, is NOT destructive or whinny when left alone. He would benefit from a quiet household with another dog, and someone who could help build his trust. He’s a loyal, beautiful companion who is going to make someone very happy.

Manchester

Meet Manchester, a 2 year old Jack Russell and Chihuahua mix who has the sweetest disposition. He is clearly the best of both worlds. He was rescued from Merced and we don’t know a lot about his history, but we suspect he was given up by a previous owner because he is just so easy going and well-behaved. He’s one of those dogs you would never know has been in a shelter because he is so unfazed by the experience, which is great for his future adopters.

Chester loves nothing more than to follow you around the house and curl up on your lap if he has the chance. He’s got the softest, almost bunny like coat that catches you by surprise when you got to pet him.

He is house trained and also walks well on a leash, and is learning how to enjoy his crate – he probably slept in the bed so this is a bit new to him. Chester wants to be your new best friend and as a result listens closely to what you tell him to do. He is super smart and super trainable, and can even walk on his hind legs – though not on command….yet.

He has plenty of energy and can keep up on rigorous hilly hikes – though preferably not in the rain or mud. But he is also satisfied with a mellow walk around the neighborhood, just trotting along at your side. Chester is currently being fostered in a home with kids and a cat and although they would love to have him as a permanent resident, the cat has voted “no.”

Being a cute and spunky boy, he’d probably do best as an only dog or with a play buddy.

Max & Dugan

Meet Max & Dugan! These boys are super sweet and a true joy to have around! They have a very calm nature about them. They are both 6 year old neutered males. Max is the tan lab mix and Dugan is a rottie lab mix. They love to be pet and are super mellow. They will lay around as long as they have a nice warm spot. They came to us from the Santa Barbra shelter where they sadly ran out of time, They were owner surrendered and came from the same home. We would like to keep them together as they are a very bonded pair. They are currently being fostered in a home with kids, and other dogs and are very respectful of everyone. They are no trouble at all. They will make someone very happy!

Uzi Duzi Du

Uzi-Duzi-Du made it to Rocket Dog from the San Jose shelter. He’s a small Yorkie/Terrier-ish mix weighing 6lb and is approximately 10 months old. When he first came in, he was emaciated and scared but in a few short weeks he’s developed a healthy appetite and a very playful spirit. He’s a quick learner and is now housebroken and crate trained.

Uzi loves playing with other dogs, both large and small and has the energy to run for miles. He hasn’t met any cats yet but he has a way of befriending any animal/person/child he’s met so far!

Car rides are no problem and he’s likely to curl up in your lap for a quick nap. He walks nicely on leash and likes to stay close to you. While at home, he doesn’t bark unless a stranger is at the door and then, it’s only a few barks until we arrive at the door. He doesn’t mind being bathed in the kitchen sink which is very convenient and brushing him is no problem either.

Uzi loves his chew toys, collects them and hides them for later use. He doesn’t quite have the hang of fetch yet, but he’ll run and pick up whatever you’ve thrown. One thing he knows and has mastered is how to snuggle! He loves to kiss and be with the ones he loves. He’s been great in a house with 2 adults but can be placed in a home with respectful kids because he doesn’t mind being picked up and handled a little awkwardly by kids and has a history of not biting anyone. Whatever home he is welcomed into, this funny loving guy is sure to give you one more reason to smile everyday.

Meet Ben! He’s a handsome, loving 11 month old Black Labrador/Pitbull mix. He came to us from a high kill shelter, after he’d been hit by a car. . .He’s a goofy, fun loving, outgoing puppy.

You won’t meet a sweeter temperament than this friendly and affectionate guy. So much the classic Lab! Ben loves to snuggle and is still quite the playful pup, but very gentle when he does play. He is still recovering from a pelvic injury after being hit by a car, so he is getting lots of rest for now. He’s a curious puppy checking out the smells of the world. Ben is a very smart dog and learns fast and you will just fall in love with his big brown Lab eyes!

Look who just rolled into town: ZANE GREY! He had to leave his posse behind in the wild west of San Jose where he was picked up as a stray……unfortunately, the shelter did not have room to keep him and he was slated for euthanasia. The cliffhanger was when Rocket Dog rescue came and saved the day by rescuing him before the end of the show…..

Zane is about two years old, we believe he’s a purebred Havanesse, and is in dire need of a haircut! Under that mop of hair is a sweet dog who likes other dogs and loves people! HE currently weighs about 17 lbs and does not mind his crate, although he rather be out and about, exploring uncharted territory….

Lacie nicknamed cupcake (for being adorable!) is a Bay Area local who came to us as a stray from the San Jose shelter. She is a Norfolk terrier mix who is about 2 years old and weighs 10 lbs. In typical terrier fashion, she is spunky, has a good amount of energy, usually when excited or while playing with other dogs. This little lady will entertain you with her funny tactics.

She is extremely affectionate and goofy at times. All this girl wants to do is play! She lives in foster care with more mature dogs and cannot entice them in a game of tag so she’s chosen the cat as a playmate which cracks us up! She LOVES playing at the dog park with all her dog friends! Lacie discovered herself in the mirror the other day and will play with her “friend” chasing it back and forth. She is creative and will find a way She is also learning to be in her crate quietly although in the car she’s an angel inside it. Lacie walks nicely on leash and enjoys the outdoors.

Lacie would be fine as an only “child” however, would LOVE the company of a resident play buddy. She is fine with cats and respects their boundaries. She bonds very quickly and becomes attached to her people. Lacie likes toys, investigating new scents and is treat motivated. She will be a little trick pony if you put in the effort to teach her some cool moves.

I’m Aeron, and I’m a very sweet 9 week old female Pit Bull mix puppy. I have very soft fur, a wrinkly face, and I might even be part Shar Pei. They think I will probably be around 35-45 lbs when I’m full grown, but it’s hard to tell for sure. I have already been spayed, chipped and my shots are up-to date but I will still need more of
those before I can play with other doggies.

My mommy, me, and my 2 other sisters were found in a field outside of Pittsburg. My mommy has a very sweet disposition and gets along well with other dogs, so they are pretty sure that I will too. I have only been away from my mommy and sisters for a week now, so I get a little bit lonely by myself and I cry, but after some time, I calm down.

Before I arrived at my new foster home last week, I was getting really good with paper training, but now, every couple or few hours, my foster family takes me outside to potty and I have not made a mess inside the house (or my crate) yet, which must mean I’m a quick learner!

The kittys in my foster home are very curious about me, but are still cautious, as I am pretty playful. I think that having cats in my life could be a lot of fun and I think they would like me after they got to know me better! I love chew toys and rawhides, as they keep me busy. I also LOVE getting cuddles, and sleeping on my foster dad’s lap

Will you take me home with you and your family to be your forever girl? I will require a lot of attention at first (because I’m still pretty little) but I know your hard work will pay off and we will be happy for many years to come! All I need now, is you!

I’m Cleo, a toy poodle mix who is cute as can be! Well, WILL be as cute as can be when my hair grows back. See, I got demodex mange. It’s not contagious to people or dogs but makes me look less desirable and deems me “unadoptable” at the shelter so I was rescued! Phew! I’m on a regimen to help my system grow it back so I’m not so pink and splotchy. I promise, I will be such a good girl! It’s all almost grown back!

I get along with small dogs and adults. I have not been tested with cats but perhaps some dog savvy cats or a mom or dad that can show me how to get along with these guys, I might be ok with a feline roommate. Big dogs can be a little intimidating but I could get used to them with some patience and if they don’t try to jump all over me like the Jindo puppies (not so small) do here. I’m about 1 year old and only weigh 5 lbs. I’ve been told I’m an old soul because my eyes are so expressive….I’m not sure what they mean but I’ll take it if it’s a compliment

I am crate trained – I was really nervous at first that I barked but now I’ve become accustomed to my new apartment. I kind of like having my own space to veg when I’m not feeling social or if I am uncomfortable. I’m working on my potty training and learning from the other dogs in my current foster home.

I am shy and take a while to warm up but I do LOVE sitting in your lap, getting attention and watching some TV. I think I just need time to let my heart heal and once it does, I’ll be all yours and ready for our life together! Sounds like a bad romance novel, right?

She’s people oriented, eager to please, submissive and a total love sponge. She knows sit, down, heal, shake, wait and release. She was properly socialized and excelled in training. She is house trained and crate trained. The vets did say she needs to lose about 15lbs, as she is overweight, but long walks on the beach and a low calorie food and she’ll be right on track!

He weighs about 50lbs and is just a little bundle of joy- He came to us from the city shelter where he sadly ran out of time due to no fault of his own. Wally Cox is a friendly and loving boy 2 year old. He came to us from the Merced Animal Shelter where sadly, not many dogs make it out alive- He is good on a leash, which is good because he is a big boy. Puppy is an adorable 7 year old Pomeranian and Chihuahua sprinkled mix. She weighs about 13 lbs and was rescued from an owner who got another dog and chose to treat Puppy like the red headed stepchild of the house.

Puppy has an awesome foster where she’s being spoiled, loved and learning how to enjoy the good life while living with a cat and a former Rocket Dog, Godzilla. She used to get yelled at and loud noises make her a bit nervous, whether it’s yelling or cheering (like people will be doing this upcoming Superbowl game.) She is loving, tender and mellow, enjoys playing outside and loves the rain. Puppy is a cuddler and cracks up her parents when snoring in her sleep as well as some of her play antics with Godzilla. Such a sweetheart.

Puppy gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, kids, the elderly and LOVES men. She is a total flirt! She is good on leash, has a blast at dog parks, enjoys walks yet currently can’t be trusted off leash (what can we say? She likes to run.)

This girl is potty trained, rarely barks (has made two peeps so far) and is an angel around the house so you don’t have to worry if you gotta work (like most of us!)

Melany

Melany had a happy life and like many of us had her family broken up recently when her parents were divorcing. Unfortunately for Melany, neither parent wanted to keep her and took her to their vet to be euthanized. The vet took her in (since nothing was wrong with her!) and contacted Rocket Dog for help.

She is now safe, a little confused and underweight. Melany is a 7 year old white chihuahua who is probably about 6lbs when she should be about 8-10 in a healthy state. She is sweet, pretty quiet and gets along with dogs although at this time she isn’t really playful. We are still learning about her and hope that she will come out of her shell soon. She has done fine at our adoption events which can be a bit chaotic for any dog. She stays removed from the commotion and likes hanging by her handler yet is calm and just a little reserved, which is totally understandable!

Melany would love a foster to care for her, give her some TLC, and extra love since she doesn’t know what just happened. She only knows she’s not in her home of 7 years and will need some patience to adjust.

Bonita is a cute young white Poodle/Lhasa Apso mix. She is as soft as a rabbit, as playful as a pup and friendly like the president, happy to meet n’ greet everyone!

She is compact (under 10 lbs) and although her pictures seem like she has a “stare” she is a total doll in person. She’s got lots of energy yet isn’t “annoyingly hyper” and responsive to people around her. She was at our adoption event which can be chaotic for rescue dogs and acted as if she’s been in a traveling circus her whole life. Fit right in with Rocket Dog Rescue

Bonita is new so we don’t know a ton about her other than she’s the happiest little girl who can’t wait to go into a foster home or forever home. She is currently hanging out with a few dogs until she finds her place.

Adopt Baby! She’ll be a great addition to your family.

The Basics

Baby is a 1-2 year old female American pit bull terrier mix with floppy ears and a smooth, soft, grayish-brown coat (ears and snout suggest maybe beagle or hound). She’s full-grown at a lean 59 pounds, loves people and other dogs, and is one of the most gentle, easy-going dogs I’ve ever met.

Obedient

Baby is housebroken and is learning to like her crate. She knows her own name, sit, no, and is learning stay and down. We’re using a harness when we take her out, and she’s very easy to control. She only barks when she gets too wound up during play, when we first get home and she’s taken off guard, or when we leave. In each of these situations, the barking never lasts more than a few seconds.

A Quick Study

In only a few days, Baby has picked up on some of our dog’s behaviors. Not only has she adjusted her wrestling to fit our dog’s style, but our dog taught her how to play tug. Baby even copies the way our dog approaches us for leg stretches and cuddling. It’s been amazing to watch.

Friendly

Baby loves everyone: overzealous toddlers, friendly dogs, angry dogs, the homeless, skateboarders, and even pot-bellied pigs (a neighbor has one, and Baby was curious but not aggressive or afraid). She grew up on the streets of Sacramento and is now living in San Francisco’s Mission District. She’s been exposed to most environments, so she’s well adjusted and is always relaxed.

Great With Other Dogs

We have a 3.5-year-old Jindo. Both dogs are female, but they still get along like they’ve known each other their whole lives. Where our dog is sometimes suspicious of other dogs, Baby wants to meet every other dog she sees.

A People Puppy

Baby loves other dogs, but she loves people more. She’ll try to stand and say hello to everyone she meets! She follows us around wherever we go at home, and wants nothing more than to cuddle up with us at all times.

Playful

A young pup, Baby has lots of energy and loves to play. Her favorite toys are those that will spring around when she chews on them (balls or small, squeaky toys), bones and other chewys, and small toys that she can throw around and chase on her own. That said, if you’re watching tv or working, she’s happy to stop roughhousing and take a nap. Baby doesn’t fully understand how to play fetch, but she loves what she’s learned. She’d also be a great companion for someone who wants to take her running.

Food Motivated

Wow does Baby love her some food. It doesn’t matter what, really — she’ll eat just about anything! And after she’s done, she’ll want more.

Issues Needing Work

Baby is a great dog. That said, she’s lived her life out on the streets and it shows. Though housebroken, Baby is still learning how to tell us that she needs to go out, so accidents occasionally happen. When we take her out, Baby is always looking for some delicious (to her) street food to gobble up. Finally, Baby doesn’t know all of her commands yet, so she’d benefit from continued obedience training.

History

Baby is coming to us from the Sacramento shelter where she was found by a good samaritan, who fostered her for a time in a home with two dogs (a husky and a chi mix). Due to a landlord issue, the foster family could not keep her, so Baby was returned to the shelter. While back in the shelter, a homeless man then came for Baby saying that she was his dog. Sadly, he could not afford the fees to redeem her. Still, he said he had to make sure she wasn’t put to sleep, so he continued to check on Baby until Rocket Dog Rescue stepped in and provided foster homes. Now she needs you to make her part of your family!

Mackenzie

Mackenzie is a female German shepherd that is only about a year old and weighs 51 pounds. She came in to the shelter as a stray and has not been redeemed by an owner – though every day she sat looking up at the faces of the people walking by… she seemed to be waiting for her family but they never did come.

This girl had a harder time dealing with the shelter with all of the other dogs barking in the kennels. It was way too loud, scary & chaotic for her

She paced nervously in her kennel trying to find a way to avoid the noise.

So the shelter staff bagged for rescue to come and save Mackenzie ..
A shelter staff who really had a soft spot for mackenzie wrote this to me..
“She was easy to leash and as soon as I was outside, I crouched down to say hi. As soon as I was at her level she crawled into my lap and gave me several kisses. She seemed to be thanking me for leading her out of such a loud, scary place. She walked nicely on the leash and I led her to the office. She was a little timid in the office, but took treats and watched everything. When new people would pass, she made sure to keep on eye on them and always returned to my side for treats and hugs. She was happy to be stretching her legs and perked up when she saw shelter staff she recognized. When I returned her to the kennel, I placed her in a different location, away from some of the louder dogs. She seemed to prefer this spot and crawled back in my lap as I sat with her in the kennel”.

This sweet lovely girl has not one mean bone in her body- she simply needed a chance -
and we were happy to be able to give that to her!

Love football and the 49-ers? Meet Niner!

A 10 year old Lhasa Apso mix who weighs a solid 21 lbs. His owner passed away and loved him very much. You can tell he was well taken care of and truly appreciated like a family member.

He is an older man so he’s got his quirks including some clouding starting to show in his eyes (cataracts) but he can see and doesn’t bump into things. He is a little picky about who he likes, dog wise. He is distinguished and is more comfortable around small dogs with good manners or taking a nice stroll with a 4-legged friend. Those crazy pups can play with each other! He will teach those young ones how to act and can be snippy when pounced on. Who can blame him? Not everyone is up for puppy playtime.

Niner is housebroken, crate trained, likes walks and is good on leash without pulling too much. He rarely barks unless he feels anxious which isn’t the default “setting” he’s on but it can be expected so don’t try to “hide” him from anyone in your building.

He gets attached very easily and takes a little time (about a week) to adjust to his new environment according to his foster mom. If you can bear with him and have patience during the adoption transition, he will love you to pieces! Niner is comfortable being bathed and groomed (he’s used to it! 10 years of great bath times.) He is a total cuddlebug and overall just a sweetheart looking for a warm place to lay his head.

Daphne is a 6 month old mini-Britney Spaniel looking pup. We’re not quite sure what her mix is but whatever it is, it’s adorable and she will most likely remain under 20 lbs when fully grown. With her feathery hair and the cutest freckles she is definitely a show stopper!

She is learning the ropes and so far is sweet, gets along with dogs and is happy to hang out in your lap although isn’t clingy. Daphne is still a pup and demands attention sometimes by barking which means she still needs to learn manners and have someone provide rules for her. Daphne lives in foster care with a few dogs and does well with them all. She is crate trained and house trained.

Meet Dougie! He’s a 10 week old pitbull mix who weighs about 16lbs. He was the biggest puppy in his litter. He’s a stunning boy with a cute grey/blue coat and stunning markings. People can’t help but to compliment him on his good looks! Dougie is not only one handsome little fella but he is one SMART puppy! He already knows lots of commands like sit, down, stay, and shake. He is crate trained and knows how to go on potty pads. He is being fostered with 3 other dogs, all of whom he adores and plays so well with. He would love living in a home with another dog friend He is so respectful of everyone- and is quite an easy going pup. He has a great demeanor. Dougie has had two rounds of his puppy shots, been neutered, and microchipped. His bags of toys are packed and he’s ready for his forever home! They are independent dogs, and have free spirits, much like Ms Haley. This gal is stunning, loving and active. She is strong willed & very smart. Haley does well with other dogs, and was found roaming Martinez with her mom and sister. We don’t know how amazing dogs like these ever found there way into a shelter- but we are happy they are safe. She is truly one special girl and she’s going to make someone very happy. She will need a home who will continue her training with her, and give her lots of socialization around dogs, and people. She is currently fostered with other dogs & doing well . She will require a good amount of exercise to keep her happy as well!

Meet Rocco! He’s a darling 11 month old rottie/shepherd mix who came to us from a high kill shelter. Rocco’s is the sweetest, most loving boy and dosen’t have mean bone in his body. Meet “Hope” – a 3 year old, 16 lb. (yes, she is chubby) Chihuahua/Doxie girl that looks like a mini mini lab. She was left behind at the shelter when anotehr rescue took her pups only! Hope is very sweet and friendly, although very shy and insecure at first. She likes hanging out in her crate and does like other dogs. Obviously, she is very treat motivated! Little Tallulah was found tied outside without shelter or regular care….she endured some rough conditions! Tallulah is understandably shy at first, and is learning to be more trustful. Now that she is in a warm house and gets regular meals, she is slowly relaxing and becoming more of a cuddler!

Meet Candy! She’s a stunning 3 year old Purebred American Bulldog who was saved from the city shelter after found running stray & sadly no one came to redeem her. She is ADORABLE.. She has a face that could make anyone smile. Candy weighs about 65lbs. She is the most precious, loving goofy gal around.. She is floppy just like a bulldog (and drools!) and has an amazing demeanor with EVERY PERSON she meets. She wiggles her whole body in excitement. Not only is this darling gal cute as can be, she has the brains as well. Candy knows sit, down, stay and shake.

Candy thinks she thinks she’s a lap dog and if you sit on the couch or chair she climbs up and leans on you. She’s a snugglepuss.

Follows you around the house, wants to be close, inquisitive, I call her a velcro dog.

She loves, loves, loves to ride in the car and is completely patient while you are in the store.

Also, this broke my heart…when she’s in the kennel she suckles on a blanket. She gathers it on her mouth and kneads it with her paws, closes her eyes and suckles like a baby kitten.

is so food motivated and just eager to learn more new tricks. Candy does well with dogs her size, but she can be a rough player . She gets very excited & play bows around small dogs- but due to her being a bigger dog- we think she would do well as the only dog or with another medium/or large dog. Candy is truly one of a kind, and her new family is going to be extremely lucky to have this amazing girl in there life! Candy has been spayed, had all shots & microchipped.

Mia is a 5 pound deer chihuahua. She is very shy, timid little girl, but is very sweet! She loves to cuddle on your lap or in her dog bed. She is friendly with dogs and would likely be fine with cats. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and is doing well on her house training. Meet Rosamunde or as I call her, Mammaz. She looks like a terrier/doxie/teddybear [face] mix with black nails and a small white patch. She’s got beautiful hazel eyes which I WOULD capture if she wasn’t soooo camera shy – a real squirmy one, this girl! She is about 1 year old, weighs 12 lbs. and has got a long body. It looks like she’s already had some kids of her own….another teen mom. Mammaz was picked up in a “stray sweep” that took place in Wasco [BFE not far from Bakersfield] – people complain about all the strays roaming around so animal control “sweeps” them up.

Rosamunde is a very sweet, happy girl who at this time is a little bit of a nervous nelly and will turn over like a roly poly in submission. She gives sweet kisses and sometimes pees a little out of nervousness. We’re working on that!

Rosamunde is curious about new people and will shyly greet them. She is friendly with small dogs and a little hesitant around larger dogs. Could be lack of exposure to them but she’s got good manners and isn’t rude or barky like other small dogs who might feel intimidated. Although she hasn’t been cat-tested, I think she would be respectful and appreciate a dog savvy cat.

She is intelligent and eager to please. As a a matter of fact she just learned how to walk on leash today and is already a pro! She walked her first set of stairs yesterday and is getting adjusted to these funky blocks. It’s cool to see how quickly she gets adjusted.

She’s quiet around the house, doesn’t bark, good on car rides (will curl up and sleep) and is crate trained. She loves her crate! Rosamunde comes into my metal studio with me where she is loved by many and will gladly head into her crate when she feel like she’s finished making her rounds. Her first day, I noticed that she makes a funny [what I would think] a star wars type creature’s voice when she’s confused and in a room on her own. You wouldn’t think it’s a small, tan dog but cracked me up! Wish I would have captured it on audio since she hasn’t done it since.

Overall Rosamunde (Mammaz) is a great little dog who would do well with either a semi-experienced home that can help her acclimate or someone who is up for the “challenge” – She’s not difficult by any means but will need some time and patience. A little bit at a time but she’s already made leaps and bounds in the 3 days she’s been with me.

She is sleeping in her little circle bed as I type this

Casper was found wandering in a very rural town…his true identity is unknown so he was given the name of Casper (for his sweet nature) and the last name of Smith as a nod to his anonymity. She’s a super sweet pup, a blue pit mix with gorgeous gray/blue/green eyes and super big white paws, around 1 1/2years old and weighs 40lbs.. she loves to snuggle & sleep literally with her head on the pillow next to you or resting on your shoulder, she’s crate trained, house broken, knows sit and lay down, at the moment that’s about it, but is very responsive to training, she gets along well with my 3 year old pitty. She enjoys fetch… she’s got a kind of pig sounding snort which is quite cute. She would be fine in a home with a male dog. She would benefit from continued training classes with her new adopters!

Mr Hairy Winston appeared to be out for his morning constitutional when lo and behold, he was scooped up by Animal Control. Meet Panson! He’s a 7 year old Dogue De Bordeaux (french mastiff) mix who was rescued from the Sacramento shelter when his owners left him behind because they were moving to a place that would not allow big dogs. Although Panson is a BIG boy, he is a gentle, loving soul. He loves to do the typical “mastiff” thing, and lean his whole body against your leg for pets and kisses. He’s still very playful and loves his toys and stuffed kongs. Panson does fine with big dogs. We think he should not go to a home with small dogs or cats due to his size. We would like to find someone who had experience with strong breed dogs, or someone who’s had a mastiff before. He’s been neutered, has all shots and is chipped. His tail is docked.

What a Catch! CeCe is such a lovable girl and you would NEVER believe she is 10 years old. She has a true zest for life and especially her people. She likes nothing better than to curl up on the couch next to you and just be there for you. She’s not picky about what you watch on the tube, she will just hang out and be sure you are happy.

CeCe lost her people of 10 years when her family had to give up their home and could not take her to their new place. Hard to believe this veteran family dog had to start all over again. She has adjusted very well in her foster home. They said she was an outdoor dog before, but the indoors suit her just fine and actually she prefers it.

She is fantastic with other dogs and is compliant in all ways. CeCe is quiet, house-trained, and only requires a short walk each day…but, she would like a low-key romp on the beach at least every few weeks if you could find the time to join her….she says you would really enjoy it too and it would be good way to “get away”…but its really not a mandatory thing at all.

If you are looking for a mellow and simple girlfriend….She is quite a catch !

Meet our Little Texas Beauty, Thelma! This lovely 8 month old Weimeraner mix was saved by a couple of RDR volunteers from a rural kill shelter in South Texas. She endured the long flight from Austin to find her forever home in the Bay Area of California. Thelma has come a long way from her “street ways” to learning house manners and is house-trained. She likes and gets along with all dogs and more than anything she loves to go for a romp on the beach splash around in the waves. Meet Luca! He’s a beautiful and stunning 12 month old purebred Braque du Bourbonnais (a french pointer.) They are an amazing breed. Loyal, smart, eager to please & energetic. Luca has proved to be just that! He won over the hearts of everyone at the shelter, and we just knew we had to get him out. Luca is playful and loving, and still very much a pup so he needs someone who can give him the exercise he needs. He is SO smart, he learned sit, down and stay and is so eager to please and learn more! He’s full of tricks! We think Luca would be fine in a home with another dog as he LOVES to play. He’s all around a great dog, looking for his forever home! Luca has been nuetered, has all shots & is micochipped.

Marcie is almost four mos old, a bundle of energy, and sassiness! She is a shepard mix who we “guess” may be about 35-40 lbs when full grown. She has an incredibly soft and thick furry caramel colored coat, lovely pert ears (that hear everything!) and an appetite for food and LIFE! She loves playing with other dogs, and is going to make an excellent family dog. She should attend puppy classes when of age to help her with learning lots of new things!

Rex is a really nice 8 year old English Lab who is searching for his new home! This boy is pretty happy by nature but still, he sure would love a family of his own!

He is a soft hearted guy who is well behaved, housebroken, crate-trained, likes other dogs (except for some large male dogs make him edgy), he loves all people, his only real “rough spot” is that he should probably loose a couple of pounds but that pretty much comes with the territory when you are a lab .

Rex really is a nice dog, he will add a warmth and sweetness to your home as he greets you every day with his big bright smile… Rex would be best suited in a home with kids over 16 or an adult home

Meet Suzi! She’s a fabulous, loving & loyal 10 month old pittie mix who’s full of love. Suzi came from the shelter where she had been passed up by, by the smaller dog or the younger dog next to her. She is waiting patiently for her forever home. Suzi is an active gal who enjoys runs and walks on the beach. She loves her people & thinks she’s a lap dog and will jump right into your lap & shower you with kisses. This precious girl is so devoted and eager to please. Lady Godiva

Little Lady Godiva is the ultimate poodle! She is a lightweight at 6 lbs and is 2 years old., with a beautiful blue-gray coat (unfortunately it was very matted when she was at the shelter, so her coat was shaved…). She is sweet, loves all people and is good with other dogs. The shelter said that she was also good with cats, but this has not been confirmed as her foster mom does not have any cats! She enjoys relaxing on her plush bed in her crate and would love to snuggle up and watch TV with you. She’s a great girl!

Meet Poncho! He’s a 5-6 year old little guy (8lbs) but could lose some weight He’s a super cute, super silly boy who will entertain you with his BIG personality. He is one of our favorite boys around- he is currently in foster care with other dogs & does well, although I think he’d like to be the king of his house . He does have a habit of running over to everyone’s left overs and gulping it down, after he eats his bowl of food. He’s a character for sure! Poncho’s ideal home would be with 1-2 people & not lots of strangers coming over. He can be weary of new people- but is amazing with his people… Poncho’s a great dog who’s looking for his forever home! I mean, come on- look at those expressive ears of his!

Luna Bella

Meet Luna Bella, a sweet girl who didn’t get much love earlier on in her life but that doesn’t stopping her from hoping and being affectionate.

She’s a cream colored terrier girl with a shaggy, scruffy coat yet is quite long, like a doxie. She came to us from the Martinez shelter and is approximately 1 year old.

Luna Bella is a cuddle bug, loves being near you yet is crate trained and sleeps through the night without a peep. When you point to her crate, she’ll immediately jump in! Toys are new and she is discovering the concept of playing however, isn’t exactly sure what to do with them….bite them but then what?? I’ll give her credit because she is curious. I think she’ll get the hang of it in a few days (she just arrived!)

Luna Bella is happy, playful, has got terrier style spunk but isn’t too hyper and is attentive to corrections. OH, and she can jump pretty high, get onto my recliner through the side (think leaping over the arm portion on the side) squeeze herself behind my back, rub against me and give me a massage with her little claws. Too cute. She is a bit nervous around new people, acts friendly and curious so if you talk with a funny or baby voice, she totally gets excited. She’s learning that life is good and will come say hi, give you a quick kiss [lick] then run off and return until she’ll realize that nothing bad will happen and continue to get affection and ear rubs. Luna Bella is quiet around the house, doesn’t get into trouble and is an overall good girl. She is working on learning basic commands and is treat motivated.

She can’t wait to find a home who will love her as much as she would love them.

Markings: I’m black with beautiful white markings (if I must say so myself).

· I come fully loaded with all kinds of doggie accessories: sweater, chew toys, standing feeder, extra doggie bowls, Easy Walk harness, crate, a cool Orvis doggie bed, and my baby blanket that I love just like Linus does. (Charlie Brown!)

The Big Adventure of Mr. Big
Let us introduce you to Mr. Big who got his name because he has one for the biggest hearts we have ever seen! This sweet young boy was found on Thanksgiving Day, scared to death in the pouring rain near Sacramento. Had we not rescued him, his fate could have been much different—ending up in the wrong hands or being sent to a shelter where he would have been euthanized. We immediately took him in and that is when we realized what a special boy he is!

Mr. Big loves to cuddle with us and to play with his housemates, a 13-year-old Lab, an Australian Cattle Dog, and a tiny Chihuahua who are his new best friends. We don’t know for sure, but he would probably be best in a home with no kitties—he has a pretty strong chase instinct! He’s been through hell, yet you would never know—the love and trust he has is abundant—from his doggie housemates to everyone who has visited our house. He truly is an ambassador to the breed and would even make a great therapy dog!

We would love to keep him, but our Lab is very sick and on chemo. Even though the baby boy adores her, she needs to stay calm and the energy of a young dog is just too much for her; so we are in immediate need of a beautiful and everlasting home for this boy.

Like all dogs he does have his challenges, and we are working with him to help build his confidence back. If you are that everlasting home he so deserves and we urgently need, please call us and we’d be happy to tell you more about him and set up a “meet and greet”!

Lucinda is the undisputed queen of all bloodhound girls. This girl is a striking beauty with her shiny soft golden hair and her amber eyes. Lucinda has graceful long legs and a sleek body. She is, in all ways, a hound .. So as sleek and graceful as she looks this girl is a big ol’ clumsy dork. She will never fail to entertain you or brighten up even a cold cloudy day. Lucinda is a young adult, about a year or two, very puppy like and silly sweet, she loves her dog friends and every single toy they have is HERS and they dont seem to care …

Lucinda is not for a first time dog caretaker cause she does need some basic skills, ( like walking on a leash with all 4 feet on the ground ) or greeting you sweetly with a little wag (not tackling you like a football player) Lucinda really is a super special amazing hound dog girl- please don’t get me wrong- she is just a pup and needs you to teach her all the stuff she needs. She is a good girl and loves you and wants to please you so learning is gonna be a breeze .. Some basic information about hounds: not to be an off leash dog! Also: not really “obedient” but still awesome! And: they can be wary of strangers so it’s important to work on that (they are easily bribed to love strangers with cookies) don’t forget: hounds don’t bark, they “bay”.. So you kinda have to love that ..

Also, my hounds are actually quieter than the other foster dogs in my house, a few times a day you will be serenaded with hound dog love ballads. Like, when you come home. But that’s nice, right? Lucinda is stranger wary and- she will need an experienced home.

Leon is an amazing one if a kind dog! He is ridiculously cute, has a happy outgoing personality and is guaranteed to get you at least one good date!

Ok, I kid- you are on your own as far as the “date” thing but the rest is ALL TRUE, leon is a spectacular dog that will bring much joy and sweetness to your life..

Leon is cool (as you can plainly see) and he is well behaved when riding around in the car and hanging out while you work.. He is a year old, so he definitely acts like a pup still & needs some basic leash training & stuff, they said Leon is a tri-color husky/shepherd mix but honestly, your guess is as good as mine ; )

If you like a dog that’s a mix of movie star good looks and funny antics .. Leon is your boy !!

Bonnie is a striking beauty – inside and out! She greets every body with a soft sweet smile & gazes up at you with warm gentle eyes. She really is a special girl who, at only 2 years old, found herself left behind at a shelter. Every day she would light up as people came to see her but sadly, was never adopted. Luckily rocket dog was able to step in to save her and we could not be happier ! She is like a ray of sunshine – adding her funny special kind of sweetness..

Bonnie just turned 2 years old, she is a large girl but carries it well ; ) She seems to enjoy her dog friends but would like to be the only dog or possibly a home with a nice older dog boy friend would be nice.. She is learning basic training, is housebroken, crate-trained, and has two different colored eyes- one brown, one blue-super sassy-cute!!! You could never hope to meet a nicer girl!!
