Hi there! My name is Cody and I am a 7 year old Mini Dachshund. I was born on June 25, 2013.
I have been in the same family for 7 years and through no fault of my own have to find a new family to love me for the rest of my days. I am a healthy boy who is fully vetted, who needs a forever and ever home that understands the Dachshund breed and has done research.
I am houstrained and I am a really good boy when people are home with me; however, I have separation anxiety and chew on things if I am not crated nor if I have a gated safe space for me to be in while you go out and do errands.
My ideal family would treat me as a family member and who is around for most of the days if not all days. I would like companionship and could do well with a well matched dog. I act like a big dog in a small Mini Dachshund body and will bark up a storm if I feel threatened or if I hear people walking outside our windows and doors, so an apartment living situation wouldn’t work for me as the neighbors would probably complain and I would be looking for a home all over again.
If you have an apartment with sensitive neighbors, then please look for another dog that doesn’t take “watch dog duty” as seriously as I do.
Otherwise, I am sweet as pie and love snuggling up to my people once I feel comfortable with them. I have had basic obedience, but would need a refresher course. On walks, I can potentially stare dogs down if they aren’t less submissive. Again, I act like a tough boy even though I’m around 17 lbs. (I probably need to lose a few pounds, so I’m looking forward to daily walks with you.)
If you think you’re a match for me, please submit an adoption application and a volunteer will respond shortly. (BS)
