Aurora is an approximately 1-year-old Chihuahua (mixed with something, but who knows what!) who weighs around 10 lbs. Aurora is a young dog and still has some puppy energy. She loves running around and exploring the yard at her foster home, and could play with her foster sibling for hours. Aurora is a very fast learner who bonds closely with her people once she feels comfortable. She is usually somewhat shy with new people but warms up quickly.
Aurora has some pretty typical “small dog syndrome” tendencies, including some resource guarding. Aurora has taken well to training in her foster home, but will need an adopter who is experienced and understanding that Aurora will need time to get settled and need further training to be the best dog she can be.
Aurora has not been tested with cats. Because she takes some time to warm up to people, she would do best in an adult-only home or one with dog-savvy, older children. Aurora is most of the way house trained but still needs a little more work to get 100% there.
Aurora still has a lot of puppy tendencies and will need an adopter who can commit to further socialization. She needs some work on her leash manners and would do best in a home with a fenced in yard or a quiet neighborhood for leash walks. As with people, Aurora does well with other dogs once she knows them, but can take a little bit of time to warm up.
Aurora would do best in a calm home where she can feel secure and with an adopter who is ready to work with her to get used to lots of different kinds of environments. If you’re interested in learning more about Aurora, please fill out an adoption application and a volunteer will be in touch! (GS)
