Big George is a 7 to 8 years-old pittie and is 60 pounds. He’s a mellow, loving dog with a big heart and loving life with his foster family while he dreams of finding his own forever home. He likes to spend his time snuggled up with his hoomans on the couch or just sit around and be close to you as you go about your day. Belly rubs are his favorite – which will be returned with lots of face kisses.
He is well on his way to good indoor manners with his foster home, he’s learning not to pee pee inside! He may be a little hard of hearing but his foster parents have not had issues getting his attention, particularly with higher pitched sounds. He is treat motivated and will be very attentive if tasty snacks are involved, which is a huge plus for helping him learn new things!
He walks really nicely on leash without pulling and generally behaves like a much younger dog, he will need some reinforcement with leash skills though he is doing great overall! He does not react to the neighborhood cats, even if they are close by. He’s good with having his walks short, between 10 & 20 minutes, because he gets tired quickly. He seems to enjoy the company of other dogs, though he gets overly excited and can be humpy (this behavior is likely to decrease after his pending neuter appointment). He would do best as a single dog at home, or with a family dedicated to close supervision while he settles into a new home with another pup if it’s the right match.
He is getting practice with crate training and has been left alone in his crate for short bouts at this time.
Overall, he is a really sweet, friendly and quiet dog with lots of love to give. If you are interested in adopting Big G, please submit an application and a volunteer will be in touch shortly! (KF)
