Say hello to Bishop! This loving, playful pup wants to give you lots and lots of kisses and snuggle his head on your lap at the end of the day. He’s a 65 pound Pit Bull male, just about 2 years old but his soft, velvet black fur may make you think he’s even younger.
Bishop’s loves to run and play fetch or tug on a rope. He’d be much happier with a tennis ball or softball to carry around than any squeaky stuffed animal. He has decent leash manners which get even better the longer the walk. His confidence allows him to sleep through loud noises, including fireworks, but he’s talkative when he wants your attention. He is equally eager to learn and eager to please, learning many commands simply with consistency and joyful “Good boy!” He’ll pay attention to the rules but will do well with an obedience class and possibly even an agility course. He’s crate trained and mostly house trained which should easily come in a stable forever home.
Bishop can be a little shy when first meeting; he prefers a casual meet & greet when humans pretend he’s not even there. Rather quickly, he’ll start licking your hands or your feet and wagging his tail. Of course, if you come bearing treats, that happens even faster.
Like all dogs, Bishop needs daily interaction and exercise to keep his young mind and body at their best. Bishop would be best-suited in a home without small children, as he doesn’t know his own strength. That said, he’s been quite respectful with the elderly woman that also lives in his foster home. (He has not been cat-tested.)
