Meet Brodi! A 3 month old pittie puppy who we expect to weigh at least 60lbs once fully grown. He is looking for a forever home with people who can teach him to be a proper citizen out in the big world. A foster home would be great too! He’s is at a super important stage in his life and no puppy should have to spend their first months at the shelter. Although we have been doing our very best to socialize him as much as possible while he’s at the sanctuary, he has so much more to learn!
Brodi is a total meatball with a super fun personality! He is a rough & tumble kid looking for a family who has experience with bully breeds or large breed dogs. A home with dog savvy kids over 8 years would be fine. He has no idea how sharp his teeth & nails are so he wouldn’t match well with super young kids or kids who aren’t comfortable with dogs. Having a well-behaved and tolerant adult dog in the home would be great for him. Not only to keep him busy but also to set a good example and show him the ropes. He has not been cat tested but it can be much easier to integrate a puppy into a home with cats compared to an adult dog. Of course it also depends on the cat and intros should still be done safely and slowly. The last thing you want is for chasing the cat to become a game.
Puppies require a lot of time and patience! If you work a typical 9-5 out of the home 5 days a week that is not an ideal situation for puppies. Brodi will need someone with plenty of time dedicated to teaching him all the skills he needs to be successful in life. Potty training, leash training, socialization, basic obedience, etc. It will be A LOT of work, but is sure to be so fulfilling once you make it past the hard parts. But don’t worry, there will be plenty of easy & fun moments along the way! He loves to play with toys, tug is a favorite game of his and he’ll chase a ball too. Still working on the return part though.
