This dog. Just look at those gorgeous soulful eyes. Camilla has so much to tell you. Her heart is bigger than her whole big, beautiful self. She came to us a very scared and shut down girl. She has since shown us what a colorful and quirky personality she has. Watching her learn to trust has been undeniably heartwarming. She gives kisses to those she feels safe with and loves to flop over for a belly rub. At about 6-7 years old, she still has puppy moments; rolling on her back, pawing at the sky…

Camilla has become very good on a leash. However if she smells something delicious, she’s very strong and it can take a little muscle to pull her along! She’s very communicative and will let you know what’s going on if you listen/watch carefully: a giant paw on your hand means “more scratches please”, a low grumble means “please go slow, I’m nervous” and both paws over her nose means “I am so happy!”

She has met other dogs on walks and is open to making friends if the approach is slow.

Volunteers have nicknamed her Queen Camilla, Mother Goddess, Cheese Monster (she will do anything for cheese! Hotdogs are a sure bet too!) She’s so special that she has her own Instagram @rocketdogqueencamilla. Follow her!

Update: One of our volunteers had a DNA test on this gorgeous gal and it came back 94% German Shepherd Dog (and 100% perfect!)
