I was rescued by a student in Mexico after I got hit by a car (worry not, the vets said I would make a full recovery and I have!). She took me in and helped me start learning the ropes of living with a family and in a home. I’ve become pretty good at it, too! I am house-trained, crate-trained, and behave well in cars. We also worked on my basic training and leash skills.
After that, I was brought to the US to find a permanent home. Here I’ve been working on ongoing training and I’m getting much better at walking nicely (I’ll admit that I still lunge at squirrels, though…). I really love playing with other dogs outside of my home, but I need a minute to get to know them before I am ready to trust them, so doggie parks right now are hit or miss. I need proper introductions before I can make friends with dogs, but give me some time and I’ll be friends with my dog friends in no time.
My dream home is to be the ONLY dog in the home with experienced dog savvy-owners who want a smart dog who has capacity for lots of high level training (and I will work for treats any day! Seriously, I am SO food motivated.). I would also do best in homes with older kids/teenagers, since I tend to forget that kids are not tiny puppies (whoops!). So, no cats, small animals and kids under 12 years of age for me please.
I am friendly with dogs OUTSIDE of the home with a proper introduction. I love to play with dogs NOT in my home. I don’t like to share my space with dogs in the home, but do well on walks with other dogs and play dates, again, just not IN the home.
I am about 1.5 years old, weigh about 55 lbs, I am spayed and current on all vaccinations. I have all my puppy gear, too! I am a mix of rottweiler, rhodesian ridgeback, and lots of other stuff. I am not a barker, and will be a quiet, loyal companion to my humans once I get to know them.
If you are interested in learning more about me and you think you might be a good fit for me, please submit an application and a volunteer will be with you soon. (BS)
