Large (60 – 100 lbs) Learn MoreThis handsome guy became a Rocket Dog as part of our effort to clear the shelters up North during the wildfires. He is around 1.5 years-old, 77 lbs. and probably a mix of Labrador and Weimaraner or Great Dane. He has been in foster in an apartment with 2 kids under 7 and a cat and has been doing great.
He is very playful with other dogs and can fetch a ball when he feels like it, but once back in the building he just wants to lie down near a family member and chill out. He likes walks, long hikes aren’t for him and jogging? Well, he tried a little jog once, but after 10 min. he sat down and did not want to take another step, not even to walk! When he finally did get back home, he slept the rest of the afternoon. Could be he is just out of shape, but we think he is a mellow companion.
Duke has had a refresher course of basics commands like his name, “sit” and “down”. He responds well, is pretty good on the leash, but does get a bit nervous on busy streets. Soothing words help him out, though. He likes taking a road trip and jumps right in the car. He can get a little anxious when left alone, but does great if he is crated during that time.
Duke is an all around easy-going guy that would be a great addition to any household! (RDS)
