Elijah has been loving life with lots of room to run and play and also loving lots of cozy resting spots in his foster home. Elijah is a gentle, loving, sweet, and affectionate boy. We believe he is a two year-old, cattle dog mix. He’s 35 lbs of love and energy.
He does a super wiggle butt and cries of joy with a bursting heart when it’s morning time or when his foster mom comes home. Elijah sleeps well in his crate at night in the foster parent’s bedroom. Elijah loves hanging out with family members and will curl up in a dog bed or lounge in sunny spots around the house.
As he’s settled into his foster home and learned the routine, he’s become more confident in being alone and barking less. He is so clever and loves being around the family so much that he can jump any low fence or baby gate! He could be an awesome agility dog! Elijah loves playing with toys and chewing on bully sticks.
Elijah has been enjoying long country walks and doesn’t pull. He doesn’t mind horses, but gets way too excited when he sees the wild turkeys or cats in the area, so household birds or cats for this boy. Elijah has been enjoying the company of his foster family’s large mixed breed after he was introduced slowly and thoughtfully.
As Elijah gets used to the doggie rules of the house and learning from the family dog, he usually goes potty outside. While cattle dogs have been known to nip at heels and try to herd people, Elijah has not displayed any of these traits. He is so kind and gentle to the children (ages 2,5, and 8). Elijah also enjoys meeting new people. Elijah enjoys playing fetch, which he invites his foster mom the play by dropping a ball in front of her. After getting the ball, Elijah will bring the ball back right away and drop it in front of his foster mom again. All this with zero prompting!
Please do your breed research and if you have the time for continued training and socialization with Elijah and are interested in learning more about him, please submit an application and a volunteer will respond to you soon. (BS/VL)
