Emma loves to snuggle & just stare into your eyes while leaning on you! She loves playing with other dogs, and has good dog-manners and does not always try to be Alpha. Emma loves to play with her foster sister, and despite being 20 lbs heavier and 3 years younger, she great at not getting too rough. She would *love* to have another dog (or two!) with her in her forever home. Emma already knows the basic commands (sit, down, stay, leave it) and is ready to learn more. She’s also crate-trained.
Emma is goofy. When you invite her to sit next to you on a couch or on the floor she immediately smushes against you and wriggles herself into an even more snuggly position, wedged under an arm or a leg. If you ever look around the room wondering where Emma is, the answer is probably laying quietly by your feet.
Emma is easily intimidated by small children who approach her and reach out towards her, and aren’t old enough to read her dog body language. At this time, we don’t recommend her for a forever home with small children (with her energy and size, she could also easily knock over a small child by accident), and any children who are in her forever home need to be old enough and dog-savvy enough to understand dog body language, and know when she’s scared or intimidated.
Emma bonds quickly with her people and quickly gets comfortable with them. When she leaves her home, however, Emma isn’t always as confident. People invading Emma’s personal space can be scary, and right now she still follows her instincts to be upset by any stranger entering her foster home. Thankfully Emma is easily encouraged with some treats and patience. She will need solid, consistent training in her forever home to help her grow into the make her truly special dog she can be. Husky or other large & working dog breed experience is a big “plus”!
