Hello, I’m Gordon. I’m male, about 45 lbs and am estimated to be a 3 year-old Chow Chow/St.Bernard/Collie mix (but who knows?) I am a mixture of energy and mellowness. I’m definitely a hairy bundle of love and cuddles! And boy do I love my belly rubs! I am extremely loyal and am looking forward to meeting my best friend(s). I would do best in a home with an experienced dog owner.
When I first came to my foster parents I had some skin issues but they’ve resolved over time. I do like the occasional Benadryl to calm any itches. I am housebroken. I’m very particular about where I do my “business”; I enjoy morning and evening walks after breakfast and dinner to take care of things. It’s important to hold on to my leash as I am not a fan of cats and would very much like to chase them. I’ve come a long way from growling and barking at other dogs on my walks. My foster parents coach me along and I’m doing better daily with my reactiveness to other dogs. I’ve had good interactions with very mild tempered dogs. I love being outside. I also do well in the car!
I haven’t had much interaction with children but also haven’t shown much of any reaction to the neighborhood kids. I’ve had the opportunity to visit my foster parent’s office and had no problem with stairs or elevators and loved hanging out in the office while my foster parent focused on her work.
I won’t go through your trash and I’m working on not begging but if you leave food unattended and within reach, I will find it.
I’m learning to play fetch with a ball. I’m learning to sit and stay. I am very smart and a quick learner. I am already familiar with up, off, come, no,and leave it.
I love cuddling on the couch and in bed but upon command will retire to the floor or to my doggy bed.
With all of my awesomeness, I do have separation anxiety. I need someone who is patient and willing to take the time to help me with this. Right now it’s best when I’m crated, otherwise I claw at the door and run around the house looking for my foster parents. I can’t help but cry and howl.
Three important things to take away from all of this:
1. I will be your best friend
2. I will show you unconditional love
3. I will be the best outdoor buddy you’ve ever had
