Meet Hawthorne! He is about a 1 year-old Siberian Husky looking for his forever family. This sweet boy was dumped at our Urban sanctuary’s porch in Oakland with another female pregnant husky. Though we do not know anything about his past we think he had a rough start in life as he came to us very skittish and shy. He gets scared in new situations and with new people and does take time to warm up to people. But once he does, he loves to accompany you on long walks and be petted by you afterwards. He walks nicely on a leash but sometimes gets scared when strangers are approaching and tries to hide behind you.
We are looking for a home for Hawthorne that has lots of patience, understands that routine is the key to his comfort and that ideally has another dog for him to gain confidence and learn from. He is not going to be a super easy pup at first but we guarantee that all the love you put into him will be given back tenfold.
Hawthorne would be best-suited in a home that has breed experience or is willing to do breed research. Training, socialization and help with building his confidence should be a part of his new life and his new home must give him adequate opportunities for mental stimulation and lots of exercise. Active people are encouraged to apply. And, please, no cats in the household for this handsome boy.
