Hendricks is one of several hounds who came to us from a disbanded hunting club. Some may do well as only dogs while others may need dog playmates, but we believe all of them will be great family dogs. Many of them will likely need a little of extra time, love, and patience to adjust to a home environment.
Hendricks is a three-year-old Treeing Walker Coon Hound. He is a gentle, friendly guy. He has done well with the other dogs at the sanctuary and has been sweet and friendly with all the volunteers. He has done great with dog companions of all sizes, but is much more interested in people. He is curious about everyone and everything. He currently gets a little anxious when left alone, so he would do best in a home with someone who is retired or works from home. That said, Hendricks’ foster has said his anxiety has improved greatly over time, so it is likely something that can be overcome with some dedicated training. Hendricks has been very trainable and learned “sit” very quickly. He has been doing well on his house training and leash walking, but does still need some work on pulling on a lead.
To meet him, please fill out an application and a volunteer will contact you. (GS)
Hendricks would love a temporary couch while he awaits his forever one.
