Jake is a very handsome and loving pup. He is around 13 months of age and about 35 lbs. He is very loyal to whoever he attaches to, and will follow them everywhere. Once attached to someone, Jake becomes the best snuggler ever. He is a quick learner, and good on leash.
He enjoys playing tug-of-war and is a great jogging companion and biking partner. He is lots of energy to burn!
He is good with other dogs, but does like to play rough. He has not been cat tested, but likely has a high prey drive.
Jake is better-suited in a home with children 12 and older. He also needs a slow and proper introduction to strangers. Jake would THRIVE in a home that can dedicate training and socialization classes with him.
Breed experienced homes and active homes who understand that herding breeds would love a job to do-for example, agility class? Yes! Hiking buddy? You betcha!-are encouraged to apply. Also, someone who can redirect him and take him to classes and work on his exposure to new people and environments.
Before applying, please do breed research. Cattle Dogs are herding breeds and can exhibit protectiveness against strangers if not properly trained and socialized.
The lucky family who adopts Jake will have a lifetime of fun, love and adventures.
Please submit an application with demonstrated understanding of the breed with research notes and a volunteer will get back to you. (BS)
