Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreJasmine is a 5 year-old female Australian Shepherd who is very sweet and came to us extremely overweight. She is currently in a foster home that is keeping her on a healthy diet and exercise regime and she is thriving! Jasmine is the type of dog who will bond tightly to one or two people and they will be her whole world. With her people, she’s extremely loving and enjoys cuddling and belly rubs. With new people, she’s pretty indifferent and prefers to be allowed to approach them at her own pace. She has never shown any aggression, she just likes to meet people on her terms. Once she knows someone she will really open up and become very loving.
Jasmine is great with other dogs and once she makes a friend she enjoys playing. She loves going on hikes, and adventures to the beach and is currently being walked 2-5 miles a day. Right now that seems to be perfect for her, but please keep in mind Australian Shepherds are a very active breed and she loses weight and becomes fitter her energy level and exercise needs will go up. It is extremely important Jasmine’s new family is committed to keeping her on a healthy diet and exercise program. She is losing weight but it’s a gradual process and it will probably be a year before she’s at her goal weight of around 55lbs.
Jasmine is a very polite girl in the home. She’s house-trained, not a big barker isn’t destructive, and doesn’t have separation anxiety. She can be a little strong on leash, but she’s made great progress on this and not surprisingly is extremely foot motivated. Jasmine does great with kids of all ages but would prefer a home with no cats. Apply here if you’d like to meet this beauty. (LH)
