Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreBelle is a 2.5 y.o.Australian Shephard mix, that was turned into the Contra Costa Animal Services shelter since the owner had fallen on hard times and could no longer care for her. She was very frightened of the shelter, the sights smells and sounds but still had a beautiful attitude and although timid, she was sweet and friendly during evaluations.
She’s spayed, up to date on shots, weights around fifty pounds. A great family dog (with kids over age 10) or full time companion for a single person, her exercise needs are moderate and she handles fairly easily.
Considering that she was an “outside dog” and 24/7 had very little contact with people or other dogs, she’s adjusting beautifully to our foster home environment with a large range of eccentric canines. She is housebroken, and has learned “sit” but is very very eager to learn new things about the wider world. She will do best in a home who will go slow with her, and continue socialization.
We have found that JB is still learning about our big world and for certain loves people and bonds very quickly, however this strong desire to be with her person has caused her to show separation anxiety at times. We feel if she could be in a home with another large engaging canine, her focus changes from infatuation with her human to the company of her canine buddy and she has a better time of being alone.
Ideally she would do best with an adopter with Aussie experience.
