Meet LeeLoo! LeeLoo is about 3 years-old and a mix of Shepherd and who-knows-what. We do know Leeloo is a great dog. Her foster says, “She’s sweet and extremely affectionate – without question the most cuddly dog I’ve ever known. She’s smart and funny, lots of personality. Just a really great dog and anyone would be lucky to have her in their life.” She likes toys and tug of war – and although she enjoys chasing toys and tennis balls around the house, so far she hasn’t shown any interest in fetch at the park. She gets along well with other dogs, and really enjoys the dog park and doggy day care. She can be a little timid (but not fearful), and it sometimes takes a little while for her to get comfortable enough to start engaging with the other pups. She can be pretty vocal when playing with other dogs, but she sounds more aggressive than she actually is. She is great with other dogs, off leash.
Leeloo, like most dogs, needs lots of exercise, both physical and mental. She would do well with an active family who can take her on regular long walks/hikes/jogs. When she gets properly tuckered out, she loves snuggling up on the couch with her people for the rest of the evening.
She is very well-behaved, very treat-motivated and trainable. When LeeLoo gets excited, she can be jumpy, so while she likes kids, we think older children would be best. (10 and up) She has not been cat-tested.
She’s taken fairly well to crate-training, and tolerates it when needed. However, if left in the crate by herself she sometimes whines and yelps for fifteen minutes or so before settling down. Other than that, she has shown no disruptive or destructive anxiety behaviors. When she gets bored or restless or needs to go out, she tends to make an insistent howly-growly noise at you – been working on training her to ring a bell on the door when she needs to potty, but so far she hasn’t taken to it.
