Leo is a 3-year-old neutered male pittie mix who weighs 52 pounds. In typical pit bull fashion, Leo is a very exuberant and affectionate dog who has never met a stranger. He is fairly well-trained. He knows how to sit and a sit is also a stay. He also knows touch, boop (basically a touch that he has to jump for), down, and his recall is decent as long as there isn’t a strong distraction. He is also crate trained. His leash manners are okay but he does still pull a bit and he gets very excited if he sees other dogs on walks because he really wants to greet them. He does well with a prong collar. I have done a fair bit of off-leash training with him but he gets tunnel vision for certain things like deer and horses, so that definitely still needs some work. He lives with two dogs and three cats right now so he is good with other animals. He wasn’t well socialized with his previous owner so he tends to come on too strong when playing and that can lead to some tension at the dog park, but if he has a ball to chase he doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs apart from saying a friendly hello. He also has a bit of resource guarding when it comes to balls and other toys but he will just bark at another dog if they get in his face while he is laying down with his ball. He’s never gotten aggressive with resource guarding. He just sort of says, “Hey back off!” and leaves it at that. He also has strong instincts for stock animals like horses and cattles so he should be kept on a short leash around them. I would recommend doing some desensitization training for stock animals if folks plan on taking him to trails with horses or near cattle.
