Medium (25 – 60 lbs) Learn MoreIf you’re looking for an assertive young lady with a wonderful personality, look no further! Meet Lola, a 14 week old Shepard/Lab mix with some pit bull. She has black fur with some white patches on her chest, nose, and feet (as if she’s wearing socks). Lola has the typical, fun-loving personality of a puppy and loves to play all day when she’s not sleeping or chewing on her favorite treats (bully sticks and Kong toys with peanut butter). She may be small right now, but she can hold her own in play sessions with her 60 pound foster sister (Star, a pit bull mix) and routinely takes control of the orthopedic beds around the living room.
How smart is this young lady? In her first two weeks, her accidents inside the house have nearly been eliminated (thanks to crate training), she follows our calls to run straight from the crate to the backyard to take care of business and play with her foster sister as well as the neighbor’s young dog, and she’s slowly learning how to patiently sit when she wants to be released from the crate and during feeding sessions. If you have another dog in your household, she makes an effort to mimic their behavior and follow the same commands when positive reinforcement is involved. She still thinks the cats are fellow playmates, but she’s never hurt them in her attempts to play and will eventually learn that they aren’t dogs (especially if you have a dog-savvy cat). Once you’ve exercised her, she snuggles up next to you or on your lap for a quick nap.
