Hi there! My name is Merlin and I am about 9 weeks old. My foster family thinks I’ll be between 50-60 lbs when I’m fully grown. I was found abandoned along with my 2 siblings (whom have already been adopted) and I’m ready to find my own forever home too!
I am a smart pup who is a very happy-go-lucky dude who loves to run around, play and explore with my foster human toddlers. I’m learning a lot about the world like playing nicely, potty-training and being really well-socialized with both adults, children and other dogs.
My foster brother is a large Pittie mix and he’s showing me the ropes of what it means to be polite and mannered in the house. That being said, I’m just a baby and I still get into shenanigans. Babies like me are learning about what to chew or not to chew, pottying, sleeping in my crate at night and lots of play time!
I would love a home who’s committed to being with me most of the time, especially when I’m so young. I have so much learning and bonding to do! I do super-well with human toddlers, kids and other dogs. I’d love a doggie buddy at home to play with and learn from.
Before you submit your application for one of our cute, button faces please take a moment to read and think about the following:
- Training your puppy: When it comes to any puppy, think about what the dog is being encouraged to do now and ask yourself if this will be wanted behavior when the puppy is bigger and stronger. So while it may be adorable when a tiny puppy jumps up on people for attention, climbs up onto the couch and gnaws on people’s hands, that behavior isn’t so cute when the puppy is adult size, with adult teeth.
- Plan to take basic training classes with your new dog. A class builds the skills for the dog and creates lasting bonds with his or her new family.
- Socializing: Have puppies meet as many nice people and other animals as possible to learn and keep great social skills. Protect them from bad experiences. Fear causes many dogs to become defensive, and defensive behavior is seen as aggression.
Are you ready for a full time job with me? Are you committed to cleaning, training and socializing me for the rest of my life? If you are ready for puppyhood (being home every 2-3 hours), I would love to meet you. Please apply here and a volunteer will contact you. (BS)
