You’ve seen Petey from The Little Rascals, now meet Petey from Rocket Dog Rescue! He’s just as awesome, and could be your best friend in real life! Our Petey is about 50lbs and 5 years old. He’s been bounced around a few homes through no fault of his own. He spent most of his life as a “yard dog” where he didn’t receive much socialization or training, but recently he’s been in an amazing foster home that is showing him patience and love.
What’s it like to live with Petey? It’s snuggle-city. His cuddle skills are unparalleled, and he will give kisses whenever possible. He’s potty trained, knows how to sit and stay, and will adorably tilt his head when he hears the word ‘walk’. He absolutely loves to go for walks! Petey gets along great with all adult humans, but children make him nervous. He also is not a fan of cats!
Petey is somewhat lacking in dog social skills, and has some trouble meeting other dogs while he is on leash. He can be redirected with a “sit and stay”. His new people should be willing to learn more about how to keep Petey comfortably under threshold. Petey has lived with other dogs just fine, and in fact loves having dog siblings, but is awkward and overwhelmed when the introduction occurs on leash. You will still have amazing walks together, but will need to scout out some locations that have less dog traffic. We have lots of recommendations 🙂
We would love Petey to go to a home that has bully breed experience. We want him to be a positive representative of the breed, and will opt for adopters that prioritize this mission. He’s such a good boy and so ready to meet you!
If you’re interested, please apply because Petey can’t wait to meet you. A volunteer will contact you. (AS)
