Please meet Phila! This absolute gem of a dog has been with us for a few months, and she needs a reintroduction, because she has made some HUGE progress!
When Phila first came to us, she was so sad and afraid. She would let us sit next to her and tell her everything was okay… but she didn’t want to go outside. Didn’t want to eat. Didn’t know how to get into a car. Didn’t know how to climb stairs.
And NOW look at her! Look at that giant smile! Outside on a hike! Having a total blast! Happily greeting every other dog! Smelling all the good smells! Being a normal happy dog! She has mastered the stairs and now loves riding in the car (with the help of a doggy role model). We are so freakin’ proud of this girl. She is one-in-a-million.
Phila does wonderfully with other dogs and we are requiring that her new forever home already have a resident dog. They really help her trust new people! Phila definitely prefers women to men, and is still afraid of strange men, especially in hats. She will bark at them out of fear. But she can learn to trust anyone if you are patient with her, give her space when she asks for it, and have a pocket full of treats.
Once Phila trusts you, it is a bond stronger than super-glue. She is the most dedicated and loving companion you could ever ask for. And her snuggles are out-of-this-world.
We think Phila is some sort of mastiff mix. She weighs a loveable 100lbs, and is somewhere around 1-2 years old. If you’re ready to meet this incredible girl, please fill out an application and a volunteer will be in touch. (AS)
