Rex is a handsome 5-6 year old purebred Doberman Pinscher. He was in rough shape when he was picked up from the pound. He has since had a few surgical procedures and has healed up nicely and is now at a healthy weight of 90 lbs.
Prior to being in his foster home he had never been an inside dog, so he is still learning the rules, and has acclimated nicely to being a couch potato, and understands all basic commands for training.
He loves to play with all different sized dogs and has done very well with children. Rex is a big guy, but isn’t very well aware of his size so we are recommending that he goes to a home with children 12+.
Rex also needs to go to an active home with Doberman breed experience. He loves to wrestle and play like most Dobermans do, but that may be too much to those unfamiliar with the breed. He has had an abused past so he can be skittish at times, especially around people he’s unfamiliar with, but with lots of dedicated time, patience, and training, he will be your best friend and protector.
Rex needs someone that will be committed to him for the rest of his life because he bonds deeply. He is a very loyal boy and we don’t want his heart to be broken ever again.
If you think you are a good match for Rex and can demonstrate specific breed knowledge or at least large breed knowledge in your application, please submit an adoption application and a volunteer will be with you soon. (BS)
