Arriving at this rural home to evaluate the dogs, we were met by a caring person who’s only means of keeping the dogs safe since she didn’t have a fenced yard, was to have them tied to chains and attached to trees in her shady yard. This woman had stepped up to get these pups out of the neglectful situation and then found out it was bad timing for the shelter option because they were over capacity due to the high owner surrender cases caused when school closes for summer and people move away and do not take their animals along (L)…but luckily, she spread the word, asked for help, and nice people came her way.
Sadie Jane and Clyde, passed the temperament tests with flying colors, as they were perfectly friendly and socially appropriate with our tester dogs. They had some superficial health issues, which were easily remedied with good nutrition and a couple visits to a veterinarian.
Goofy Clyde settled right in at Knucklehead Acres where he was met with open paws by our former East Bay family of rescue mutts, now living a fine country life in rural Texas.
Sadie Jane has found comfort there as well, just long enough for our Rocket Dog volunteer to make her way back to Texas and bring sweet Sadie home to Northern California to start her journey to find a forever home through the caring network of volunteers at Rocket Dog Rescue.
Sadie Jane is a border collie mix, 4-5 years old and weighs about 45 pounds. She is polite with other dogs, knows her basic commands, is crate trained, and has lived with cats. She is active, obedient, and working on improving her leash manners.
