Scooter is a one year old Shepsky (German shepherd, Husky mix; he’s a house-trained, 75 lb puppy.
Scooter is high energy and is curious about everything. He’s doing very well learning basic commands, like ‘sit’, ‘paw’ and ‘down’.He’s currently learning how to heel on his walks and does really well without distractions. He is still very curious about everything so heeling with distractions is still a work in progress.
Scooter can be possessive with his toys, but will drop a ball at your feet to throw for him.He is learning ‘drop it’ in regards to all toys.
Scooter will sit and wait to be fed and likes to have people around while he’s eating but wants to be given space to eat in peace.
Scooter likes other dogs, but has to work on his social skills.
Scooter still has some puppy tendencies, like jumping and mouthing when he gets excited, but he takes direction well and is making progress with learning his manners.
Scooter is doing really well with ‘coming’ when called.Distractions are still a challenge for him but he is motivated to learn.
Scooter is excellent with the ‘wait’ command. He is told to sit and wait at the front door while it opens and only follows his people out when told. This is great so he doesn’t dart out any door.
Scooter sleeps through the night in his crate. However, he has graduated to being able to sleep in the fosters’ bedroom while still having access to his crate.Throughout the night he goes back and forth between sleeping on the floor next to their bed or in his crate.
He also likes to be brushed and LOVES belly rubs.
