Sequoia is a 20lb, 7-8 year-old part doxy (and possibly part lab) dog. She came from a home where she was loved deeply and sadly came to us when her elderly human passed away.
Sequoia has the energy of a puppy, and can leap vertically into the air when excited (like when she is about to be fed). She can navigate steps easily. Her foster mom and she go for brisk daily walks, sometimes for as long as 2 hours. She is excellent on the leash, not reacting to any dog – small or big. If you are a runner, she would probably be a great companion! But she is also very happy to sit by your side and sleep all day. Sequoia loves keeping her foster company on the sofa while she works from home. She is very loving, and will lean her head into your hands with great affection.
She is very obedient, and will not get on any furniture or go to any room she is not supposed to. She is fully housetrained and has no problem resting quietly in the house when no one is home.
Sequoia loves soft toys, and makes friends very quickly. She is a great watchdog and will bark when the doorbell rings, and then make friends immediately.
She is in excellent health, has had regular teeth cleaning with her previous human, and in a foster home submits to her teeth being brushed if she gets a dental treat! She does guard her resources, and would be best in a home without other dogs or small children.
