Sheila is a 3 year-old Rottweiler mix that came to us from a local shelter. She’s a happy and joyful girl that gets real eager to please when she sees dog treats and will offer you a very enthusiastic sit! At 103 pounds, she could stand to lose a few of those lbs but it will happen once she begins to get more regular exercise in her new life.
Sheila is pretty anxious and stressed out in the shelter environment; she is going to need some time to rest and recharge before she shows us more of her true personality. At this time, we know she loves to play fetch with tennis balls, though she’s not interested in tug or other plushy toys. She is affectionate and likes to lay next to (or on top of) your feet. She is pretty good on leash and doesn’t pull, though more leash training and other basic obedience training should absolutely be a focus in her new life!
She seems indifferent to walking by smaller dogs on leash, but big dogs seem to make her a little anxious or nervous. While she may be appropriate for living with another dog down the road, at this time we are looking for a home where she can be the only pet.
Due to her size and strength, we’d prefer to find a household with no children under the age of 12, and would feel best about a home with Rottie or other large breed experience.
Sheila would love a couch to crash on while she awaits her forever home. To apply to foster or adopt this big teddy bear, please submit an application and a volunteer will be in touch (KF)
