Hello there! My name is Sissy and I am a 5 year old, purebred white/ticked English Pointer who weighs 43 lbs. I was bred to be an “upland game” dog, but even though I have gone through vigorous training to point birds in the field, I’d just rather be at home with my people.
I am still an active sporting breed, however, as for a typical Pointer, I am more chill and more motivated when I am close to my people and being more of a “normal” dog. My ideal family would be an active person/people who would like to take me hiking, camping, running on the beach etc. After a good exercise period, I am content to hang out with you at home.
When you meet me, I may be a little shy at first. My current caretaker says I am very loving and sweet. She says I am very easy going and have a manageable activity level. I like other dogs, but also like dogs that have manners. I am not fond of loose dogs coming up to me really fast. That type of behavior spooks me, so I will need a lot of patience and probably a more tolerant person who can guide me into the normal world of fun and social activities.
Don’t get me wrong, I like having doggie playmates, I’m just a bit more selective on who I bond with and who becomes my bestie in the doggie realm. Otherwise, I just ignore them and I’m a bit more “business like.” I will be respectful and otherwise ignore dogs I don’t want to be around and for those I click with, well, you’ll know by seeing my tail wag and get all giddy. No cats or small animals of any kind for me.
I would really appreciate the chance to bond with my new person. I have lived mostly a gaming kennel life and would like to have a more normal family life. Folks who understand the Pointer breed would be ideal, but also folks who are otherwise dog savvy would be a great potential fit too. If you have done your research and have the forever friend mentality, please apply so I can meet you and a volunteer will respond shortly. (BS)
