Look no further than the stars for this cosmic cutie. Stephen Hawking is a 2-year-old, medium sized Terrier/Corgi mix whose affectionate and playful nature has captured the hearts of his foster parents.
Little Stephen strikes a unique aesthetic between being a decent size while retaining an eager to please, puppy aesthetic. His exercise regimen includes two to three 10–20-minute walks per day. He can jog up to a mile, then tires. Stephen is totally housetrained on a predictable potty schedule. Incredibly, he has had ZERO accidents since entering foster care. Impressive! He is very well-behaved indoors and does not show any ongoing destructive behaviors.
Mealtime is his favorite time of day, bringing out his energetic nature. He is less interested in toys or fetch but give him a cuddle and pet on the couch, and he will not leave your side. Stephen is doing very well with his crate training and sleeps in his crate nightly.
Like many young dogs, his fosters are working on training him out of some excitement-related mouthiness. He is responding very well to his tether- training!
He can be apprehensive of certain strangers, but usually warms up to them and can be affectionate within about 10 minutes. He is receptive to training and responsive to verbal cues such as “sit”. He is quite good with recall. As with most dogs, loud/abrupt noises are not his favorite thing. While on walks, Stephen wants to get closer to other dogs. At times, he can exhibit dog-related anxiety causing him to either retreat or react, depending on the dog. His fosters continue to work on his dog-socialization training. Stephen is not cat-tested, but with a trial of slow and paced introductions, cat socialization may be possible.
