Wow, what a voyage Sweetie has been on! One of our partner rescues worked her magic and was able to save this lovely gal all the way from Turkey. She’s now settled and is looking for her forever home.
Anatolian Shepherds (known as Kangal Shepherds in Turkey) are best suited with experienced owners as they tend to be independent. Open space (or at least access to open space on a regular basis) is important for these guardian-type dogs. We urge you to research their temperament before you apply to meet this loyal and loving dog.
Sweetie is about two years-old, weighs about 100 pounds, walks well on leash, and is potty-trained (caveat: please give your newly adopted dog time to adjust to your home and schedule). She is not suited for first-time dog owners and will require lots of physical and mental exercise (training) to be the best she can be. Sweetie tends to be dog-selective when first meeting new dogs, so slow and thoughtful introductions are a must.
