Introducing Truman, a captivating 6-year-old Dogo Argentino in search of her forever home! Weighing a sturdy 90lbs, Truman is a stunning example of her breed, known for their loyalty, strength, and gentle nature. Before finding her way to Rocket Dog, Truman enjoyed the comforts of a foster home where she was noted to be friendly with everyone – including other dogs. She seems to have a fondness for smaller canine friends, play bowing and romping around while taking care not to bowl them over.
Volunteers have fallen head over heels for Truman’s “adorable mama dog swagger”, and she’s always up for a good butt scratch and some quality cuddle time between bouts of play or just quietly exploring the yards. Truman already knows basic commands like “sit” and “down,” showcasing her intelligence and willingness to please – especially if there are treats involved!
While out in the world, Truman displays an easygoing demeanor around other dogs, either ignoring them or wagging her tail in greeting. Truman walks gently on leash and responds well to her people despite her size and strength. This sweet lady is ready to bring endless companionship to her family; she has so much love to give!!
The Dogo Argentino has a rich history and is classified as a “working breed”. Originating from Argentina, they were/are bred for big-game hunting, showing great strength and athleticism in their pursuits. Despite their powerful appearance, Dogo Argentinos are also known for their loyal and affectionate nature, especially towards their families.
Have questions? Want to meet Truman? Submit an adoption application online and a volunteer will be in touch. Large-breed experience is a plus, and we highly encourage doing breed research. (EL)
