Meet Truman! This sweet and gentle Dogo Argentino (a type of mastiff known for their loyalty and intelligence) is estimated to be 5-6 years old. At 85lbs, Truman is aware of her size and knows that even though she loves cuddles and kisses, she isn’t the best “lap dog” and can’t jump up on people. She’s a well-mannered snuggler!
In fact, Truman has great manners all around. She is housetrained, does well when left alone, knows several tricks (sit, shake, down, wait) and overall is independent for much of the day while her humans are busy – she is not a “needy” dog, though she is always up for a good butt scratch or a long walk exploring the neighborhood. On leash, she responds well to her person, doesn’t pull, and has been practicing all her tricks (sit, down, wait) while walking near distractions.
Truman loves meeting new people (on walks or in her foster home) and has been gentle with children. She’s a smart girl who seems to know the difference between company coming over, and a weird knock at the door late at night – picking up on the energy of her people and responding accordingly.
While Truman does enjoy bursts of zoomies or short play sessions with her toys, she’s equally content lounging around for a good portion of the day. She has the stamina and athleticism to go on hikes or adventures but doesn’t always need hours of activity. (1-2 hours of exercise daily plus some longer walks or adventures a couple times a week would be good for this laidback lady.)
This girl has a big heart with lots of love to give! Want to meet Truman? Have questions? Submit an adoption application online and a volunteer will be in touch. Large breed experience is a plus, and we highly encourage doing breed research – though dogs are individuals with their own quirks and personalities! (EL)
