Yarra is a 5-year old hound who is best described as smart, curious, and gentle. She weighs around 50-60 lbs. Yarra is part of a large group of hounds that were rescued from a disbanded hunting club, and for whatever reason, she is by far the most timid of group. She is shy at first and needs some time to feel comfortable in a new environment, but once she feels at home she is super sweet and loving, and even has moments of goofiness. She is a pretty mellow girl who spends much of her day curled up on the couch with some short playtime in the back yard. She is house trained and crate trained. Check out her videos below-she is one happy girl playing with the fosters’ dog.
Yarra is an escape artist and needs a home with tall, secure fence (at least 6 ft) and leashed walks only. However, she is nervous on lead and needs additional work to build up her leash skills, so a fenced-in yard is ideal. Additionally, we are asking that she not be left alone in a yard without supervision until she has fully-acclimated to your home. Yarra feels much more confident and at home with another dog and requires a home with another easy-going dog. Yarra is great with older, dog-savvy kids. She has not been cat tested.
Yarra is an easy-going, sweet girl looking for a special home where she can feel safe. Can you provide time and patience for our beautiful girl? Can you be home more often than not during Yarra’s initial time in your home? If yes, she needs you, so please apply and a volunteer will contact you. (GS)
