I know what you’re thinking. Yes, he’s real. Sterling is the dog of your dreams and he’s adoptable right here at Rocket Dog Rescue!
Sterling is 2 years-old and weighs about 40 lbs-total “pocket pittie”! He starts off a little timid with new people but once he warms up, those engines can run for miles! He loves to play chase and tug-o-war. He has the cutest little bunny-hop step with his back legs when he runs. He checks in with his human often, and he’ll come back to home base for some kisses and belly rubs. And oh, those belly rubs. You’ll be happy to oblige — Sterling might actually be made of velvet. He is unbelievably soft!
This little guy absolutely loves other dogs!!! Big ones, little ones, males, females, you name it, he’ll play with them all! We would prefer him to go to a home with another playful dog. Or, at least with a person who can give him enough canine socialization. Sterling would love the dog park but should always be in an enclosed space as he has a tendency to take advantage of his freedom off-leash! He has seen some cats and had a manageable level of interest, so could live with cats if given a slow and proper introduction.
In the house, Sterling is very well-behaved. He rarely has accidents if given enough potty breaks. No inappropriate chewing if he has enough toys and bones of his own to gnaw on (loves Nylabones and bully sticks!). He loves to snuggle on the couch. We have been having Sterling sleep in a crate overnight, which he is taking some time to get used to. He does bark in there. He also enjoys barking when people knock on the door, too, so his future person should take that into account when thinking about their living situation.
Sterling is a gentle boy who could make a perfect family dog. However, since he is young, he will need structure, training, exercise, and tons of enrichment.
Adding Sterling to your life will be the best decision you ever make! Please fill out an application to meet this boy, and a volunteer will contact you. (AS) Thank you for choosing to adopt.
