Snax understands all basic verbal commands such as sit, stay, down but could use some work on his come. He is potty trained and will wait by the door if he needs to go out. He is also crate-trained and is comfortable spending time in his crate outside of just overnight sleeping.
He is well behaved with other dogs – puppies and full-grown. He needs to be trained to not jump up on people when excited and will bark at strangers when they come to the front door. He can also nip when excited and will need a family who understands how to help train that behavior out and be able to commit to both physical and mental activity for this teenage boy.
Due to his prey drive and herding instincts, he will not be placed in a home with young children.
Snax would make a wonderful companion for anyone who’s looking for a second dog. Snax would benefit from living in a home with a mature resident dog who can model good behavior, and a home with an active family. Snax would thrive in a home that has experience training puppies to be on their best behavior and to be able to meet his active needs.
UTD on shots and is already neutered.
Snax’s ideal home would have at least some of the following:
– experience with working breed dogs like the Cattle Dog breed
– active family that likes to run, go hiking and can commit to extra mental and physical activity for a bright pup like Snax
– no young children under the age of 10 years of age
– dog savvy family
– can commit and is willing to work with a professional dog trainer if needed
– has a resident mature dog that can act as a role model and playmate
If interested, please submit an adoption application with a detailed explanation of why you and Snax would be a perfect fit , and a volunteer will respond to you shortly. (BS)
