Marliss was a stray from the Ukiah shelter, and is now being fostered in Mendocino County. She gets along beautifully with all other dogs, very good recall off leash, and is completely and absolutely housebroken. Low prey drive (if you have cats she’s the type to be fine) and happy to make new human friends. She’s still a little shy and insecure from her days as a stray, but is warming up by degrees in any environment that’s safe and supportive of bringing out her best self.
She came already trained with “sit” and “down” so she was someone’s dog at one point, and has great social skills. She avoids cats and likes other dogs, that boxer “play style” can be annoying but she’s learning very quickly in her foster home the do’s/don’ts of decent doggy society.
Marliss is very smart, so should go to a home where she’s not left unattended for hours on end, she’d likely be bored and be very annoying. The best adopter would have some boxer experience and know how to be strict when necessary to build on the confidence and trust in a firm leader (the next year or so in her development will be crucial to an optimum future). She’s a beautiful girl and has a lot going for her, got a winning smile and sense of humor.
Marliss is spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots. Her wieght is 38 pounds, she could still stand to gain a little. No “separation anxiety” that we’ve seen, she’s fine in a crate but no one would recommend that she stays in one for any length of time. She’s a great family dog and although athletic, not “hyper” by any means.
