Penny is a sweet angel, who is described as “a love”, has stolen hearts and a cuddle bug who likes to be held. This four-year-old, seven-pound wire-haired terrier mix can be dog selective, and can be a little shy at meeting people, initially, but is a total sweetheart and becomes quite friendly.
She has lots of energy and just loves attention, head scratches, belly rubs, exploring any room she is in and playing with balls and small squeaky toys. Penny has been known to have the zoomies in the mornings!
While at the sanctuary Penny got along with a couple of dogs, but she hasn’t been tested with socialized with many other dogs. Her fosters report that when she sees another dog while walking, she starts to whine and go towards them. She is house and leash trained. She does have some resource guarding in the evenings with her toys. This exhibits as a growl and can lead to a nip, so older, dog-savvy teenagers would be best for her.
As far as an ideal environment, a quieter neighborhood or one that doesn’t have tons of buses or traffic would be best for her as the noise can be a bit stressful and overwhelming. Penny might be okay in a home with another dog.
