Cocoa is a super sweet boy! He loves to go on car rides, loves the dog park, and is great with other dogs.
His eyes are beautiful and very curious. He runs and leaps so beautifully-like a deer. It is a joy to watch him run and romp with other pups, big and small, and he would make a great running partner.
He has the most endearing spirit of innocence in his play style; as he observes, learns, and soaks up the world around him. Cocoa is a striking, affectionate husky that loves kids, adults and other dogs, but he is not good with cats.
Cocoa is one year old and weighs 52 pounds. He is very young in his nature, and curious like a puppy. He is a cutie as he sits for treats, and gently takes them from your hand. He is working on his other commands, so as all young dogs do, needs an owner who is willing to continue to train him to heel, come, not jump up etc.
Cocoa is doing well with holding his pee overnight, though regular potty breaks (every 4 hours) is what we do for him to enforce being housebroken.
Probably due to the negative impression of the shelter, he hates the crate. The ideal adopter will have:
1. husky experience, OR a commitment to the needs of this breed (mentioned above).2. A home with a yard and high fence.
3. Someone with love and time to give to this deserving, STUNNING, and sweet boy! Ideally he would thrive in a home with another active playful dog; or an owner who works from home or can take him to work.
Cocoa is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on shots, including rabies vaccine.
More on Cocoa’s back story:
Cocoa was rescued from a Bakersfield kill shelter. We know he was owner surrendered due to landlord, and was left in the yard 24/7 before being dumped at shelter. He was on the euthanasia list simply for space, and out of time in shelter.
Sadly, (due to folks trying to make $ breeding, and due to popularity of Game of Thrones), there is a glut of huskies in the over-run shelters these days.
Thanks to a great group rescue effort, Cocoa is one of the lucky ones and whoever adopts him will be lucky to have him!To meet Cocoa, and see if he is a good fit for you and your household, contact Sandra: 415-912-8143
