Delgado will be arriving soon. He is coming from a sanctuary type setting where the owner died recently, leaving many animals looking for new homes. Delgado is around 8 years old (80 pounds) and arrived at the sanctuary when he was only one year old. He has probably never lived in a home and his life skills are very limited. He is friendly with people, walks nicely on a leash and is probably in need of moderate exercise. He has been ok with other dogs but will need slow intros and would probably do best with a confident, tolerant mellow dog.
Foster home MUST have:
1) Experience with shepherds or other large working type dogs
2) Live in a quiet, residential area – NO urban settings
3) Have a medium to large back yard
4) No cats
5) Experience working with “project dogs” – Delgado may not know how to ride in a car, what to do in a house, not know what a TV is, etc. Lots of patience will help!
Helpful but not deal breakers
1) Have a confident, mellow, tolerant dog in the home who can serve as a role model
2) Experience with horses
Unknown
1) How Delgado is with children
What you get:
1) The joy and thrill of seeing a dog blossom and learn
2) Helping Delgado find his forever home
3) Soul warming feeling of helping save a life
Please fill out an application if this sounds like a match for fostering. Thank you! (A volunteer will contact you. MC)
