Meet Dusty!
A stray from the Round Valley region of Mendocino, so named because when he arrived at the shelter in early September, he was covered in a thick coat of dust. Today, after several needed baths & a needed neutering, Dusty is blossoming here in foster, surrounded by 14 acres and a large eclectic pack to emulate.
He’s a “McNab” border collie, so he’s smaller (32 lbs) short coat and those distinct McNab ears. By no means “hyper” he’s very affectionate and wants to be with his person/people although he’s been left alone with other dogs and kept his cool. Low prey drive and not a barker. Likes kids, other dogs, people but cats is an unknown (he’s VERY sensitive to persuasion however and if corrected, won’t do the same thing twice).
Dusty is about 2-3 years old, in very good health but some teeth are a little banged up presumably he was confined until he wasn’t, unfixed dogs are often highly motivated to risk all to prowl about. Older kids or adults would be best.
Great off leash, great recall. He’s shy at first but then he’s the best friend that you ever had…
