After being dumped in the hills of Oakland, Heidi spend months living on her own as a puppy, and alluded the capture of many rescuers on many occasions. Many thoughtful neighbors left food for her along the path so she would not starve. Finally, after several interactions, the sweet girl followed a pack of dogs straight into the rescuers truck, and she was saved!
As a result, she is shy with strangers at first but warms up quite quickly with attention and love. Heidi-Belle gets along great with the other dogs in her current foster home. At the park, she is interested in meeting all of the dogs and is able to play with all dogs regardless of size.
Heidi-Belle is gentle with small dogs in spite of her size and strength. At first, she was uncoordinated in her running style, but she has learned a lot from her older siblings at her foster home and now runs with extreme speed and determination.
Throw the ball to Heidi-Belle and you will have a friend for life. She would excel in a home with other older dogs who can continue to teach her right and wrong. She has learned sit and is working on other basic commands. She is house-broken but has accidents with changing schedules. She is kennel-trained and does well off-leash with her devotion to her current foster parent.
Heidi-Belle is currently 52lbs and could gain a few more pounds. She is probably under a year old, and will remain a fun “mini-pittie” size.
