This petite little girl “Lamb” (named for her gentle nature) has had a bit of a wild ride before coming to Rocket Dog rescue. She was found as a very scared stray….apparently she had been on the streets for several weeks, by her appearance (dirty and matted and flea infested). When someone tried to corner and catch her, this tiny 8 lb miniature poodle mix nipped his thumb… even the man said she was just frightened! But a bite is a bite, no matter how it went down and soon Lamb found herself with a “record”.
But, the final straw was locating her former owners who said they gave her away and could not keep her. There was no way to contact the new home who supposedly took her. Of course, no one came to the shelter to look for her.
Despite the terrors and rejections, Lamb is gentle, sweet, and absolutely deserving of a committed and loving home. She is about 2 yrs old. She likes other dogs but we have not tested her with cats.
Lamb has a luxating patella (often called a “floating kneecap”). This means, on occasion, her kneecap slides out of place, which causes her to lift her leg and hop … the kneecap will go back to its normal position when the muscle relaxes. This does not cause her pain and it is not something that needs further treatment at this point. This is a genetic trait often seen in little dogs. However , it is not possible to foresee if she will develop arthritis in the joint or will need surgery later on. Those are certainly possibilities and any adopter must be aware of the potential consequences.
