Meet Pepper! Pepper is an 8-9 years old Pomeranian/ chihuahua mix who currently weighs 7lbs. Pepper came to us beyond emaciated. She weighed 5.5 lbs and the vet said she should weigh around 10lbs. When she first arrived at her foster’s home she was so malnourished she could barely walk, slept 99% of the time, and was clearly in a fog.
After two weeks in foster Pepper is a new dog. She has already put on some weight and her personality has really started to come out. She’s a funny, opinionated little gal who marches to the best of her own drum. She is loving but not overly needy, never barks, does not have separation anxiety, and seems to be house trained. She’s the type of dog who is happy just going with the flow and truly isn’t scared of or phased by anything. She can even go on short walks now and recently she’s been trotting the whole walk! Pepper is fine with other dogs big and small but isn’t one for playing or rowdy behavior. She is also good with cats! Pepper is looking for a laid back family where she can take long naps in the sun, go on nice strolls every day, and of course get all the love!
Now that Pepper is on the road to recovery and her personality is starting to shine we would really like to get her into her forever home so she can settle in and start bonding with her new family. Pepper is still very thin so she will need a family who is willing to care for her as she puts weight back on and gets stronger. She doesn’t need a ton of special care, but she does need several small meals a day and a special diet to help her gain continue to weight. Pepper is looking for a home where her primary caregiver is home the majority of the day. Her foster works from home and can attest that she is an ideal work-from-home companion. If you are looking for an easy-going, affectionate little side kick, Pepper is your gal! (LH)
