Phoebe came to us as part of a hoarding case last August. While most of the dogs had some minor issues, we were able to find them forever homes with loving humans who were up for a bit of a challenge. We are not sure why, but Phoebe came to us with bigger struggles than the rest so we decided to send her to foster for a while before putting her up for adoption.
Our wonderful foster has been working with her for a few months now. The patience and kindness she has shown Phoebe has helped her make some progress but is still a shy, fearful little girl. While she is perfectly okay being around other dogs, she keeps her distance from humans as much as possible. If you pick her up, she will sit quietly in your arms and seems like she may even take comfort in it, but it’s not easy to get near her. If you move too quickly towards her or startle her, she might bite to protect herself. Her bite is a reminder to take it slowly. That’s all she’s trying to say.
As with all the animals from the hoarding case, we don’t really know much about her. She may be a chihuahua dachshund mix around 7 years old.
Phoebe is truly a sweet little girl who has tugged at our heart strings. We feel it is time to find her forever home before it’s too difficult for her to leave her amazing foster family. Our wonderful foster has learned a lot about how to live with Phoebe and is more than happy to support her adopter.
With everything Phoebe has been through, whatever that was, we just want to see her go to a loving home with a patient and understanding human. She will do best in an adult-only home with one or more other small dogs.
